“Look but dont eat”

If you want to experience China, then this is a place to eat your stomach away. A good walk to an unlikely place, it's call the Muslim street.

“Great place to wander and snack”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2013

The Muslim Quarter was a great place to wander and snack on some delicious street food. There were noodle shops, bakeries and little souvenir shops. Most of the bakeries had these delicious peanut squares- make sure to get a box to go.

Be prepared for very limited (or no) English but vendors were great with pointing at food and telling you how much things cost.

Worth a visit.

“Very colourful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2013

I liked the otherness of the muslim district. The vendors selling huge rounds of bread.Barbecued pig's trotters; barbecued pig's trotters; rows of tiny fried eggs.everything on skewers. It was a pity we did not have long enough to linger or visit the Mosque.

“Great place to walk to get a feel for local life”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2013

This is a must to get a feel for local life. Although it is also full of tourists, you will find many locals there too, especially on weekends. If you are a bit adventurous, there is plenty of street food to try, nothing scary. Definitely a must see in the evening or weekend to really know Xi'An.

“Beautiful at night; friendly people and great food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2013

This little street with its myriad of shops and markets is best tackled at night; there are restaurants and vendors galore, and it is an interesting insight into Chinese Muslim culture in Xi'an. A great place to stock up on those last minute sovenirs and purchase some unidentifiable but sweet pastries!
