“Comfortable, friendly, convenient”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2012 via mobile

Stayed 2 nights on our way to Yangshuo, pleasantly surprised by Guilin and will return. The hotel is comfortable, a bit worn and musty; sheets felt damp as the air con sets back when you leave the room and so the humidity creeps up. But as other reviewers have said, the staff is friendly and their English is good. Very convenient location for exploring the city by foot.

hotel that actually contains everything inside:
a spa (good one, I tried a foot massage), a big pool.
a wetern restaurant - nice food (tried it on a rainy day)
great view, big rooms, money exchange, shops...
exchange - was a bit rough, they check that the money you exchange from are brand new
if no - they don't accept it.
if it has something written on it, or wrinkled - not accepted.
in one word: LUXURY.
location is good -close to the market center.

This was our favourite hotel stay in mainland China (out of five hotels). Excellent location and super comfortable rooms. The hotel staff were by far the most friendly and helpful of the places we stayed. In fact the people in Guilin generally seemed much more friendly than in the other places we visited. Could have something to do with the gorgeous scenery right throughout the town... The hotel waterfall show was well worth a look too.

Since arriving in Guilin, this hotel has been very perfect for what we need. The location couldn't be better, the waterfall show is spectacular, rooms are comfortable and the staff speaks proficient English. The one problem that I found is there is no coffee available before 9am unless you go to the breakfast buffet. There is a coffee/pastry shop in the hotel but opens at 9am. So if your don't have time/money for the buffet, there are no other options in the morning.

Location: Right in the middle of the touristy part of the city. The location is super as there is a great restaurant/shopping area (perfect for tourists) right adjacent to the hotel. Equally wonderful is the landscaped lake/garden area with the 2 pagodas making a super view & esp. at sunset. The hotel is also an easy walk to the river where the gardens etc tourist sites are.

Lobby etc: A nice big lobby and generally friendly by Chinese standards :-) Its an upper level hotel and all the facilities for tourist help (basically the river cruise to Guilin etc) are all there. A nice shopping arcade on the 1st floor. Most of the tourists go from the lobby to their rooms and miss the huge inner courtyard if they only go up the escalators one level to the shopping area.

Charm: The external waterfall (typically starts at 8pm though times vary through the year) that goes over the glass for 10+ floors is super. Its worth watching it from the inside if your room is located there though the better views are from the backside plaza where throngs of people will stand in wait of the lights/waterfall.

Rooms: very nice - all the bells and whistles are there. Very comfortable beds.

Great breakfast as well!

We would love to stay there again!

Room Tip: The rooms in the waterfall area have their special charm, else the rooms with the Pagoda views are t...

This is a 4 star hotel conveniently located to tourist sites and shopping centres. My wife and I stayed in an Executive King Room with a plaza overlook (~$150/nt breakfast included). This is the side that the waterfall streams down and it was enjoyable to view the evening show from both inside and outside the building. Nice sized room and everything worked well, including the free internet. The fitness centre has modern equipment but they are stingy with the A/C in this area. Pool and spas looked fine. Although the regular buffet breakfasts were well laid out the management could improve the Western food menu. No problem with service, however it was difficult to find someone at the tour desk that could speak English.

Room Tip: Plaza overlook gives you a view of the waterfall
