“Comfortable but a little noisy”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 24, 2010

Decent hotel overlooking the Li River but my room was rather noisy. However, the upside of my room location was the view overlooking the Li River ( see picture). The breakfast buffet was in an airy and very nice location off the lobby. Smallish basic bathroom. Comfortable bed.
Hotel location is not far from the "Disneyland-like" city gardens with pretty lighted structures/bridges. Guilin is a scenic clean city with no skyscrapers allowed!

about 10-15 years old hotel, renovated, good and helpful service, comfortable matresses ensure good rest, rooms of good size. All features are perfectly workin which is not so common in chinese hotels . Bathroom is small but functional. breakfast is very good and cates for all needs.
Guilin is very nice-do book the 1 hour round trip by boat when the lights are on.

which might have good sides, but overall, my worst experience in China ever. I had a room towards the back, not towards the river (no change possible because fully booked, or so they said), facing a very run-down area with very loud streetlife, and the windows are not soundproof at all. Very bad breakfast, just-ok dinner, not the friendliest staff, overpriced services. But the worst for me was a general lack of hygiene, especially in the room - very dirty carpets, dust, and especially remnants from the previous guest (name tag included, at least that ;-) but also hair etc.), so that for the one time in China it felt iffy to get into the (very, very hard and low) bed. This is clearly a *** hotel by the way and not a *****. Location is indeed away from Guilin center (20 mins. walk, not 10, unless you run), but an interesting neighborhood just outside. I'd definitely avoid the place and recomment you do, too.

Located right on the Li River and across a bridge from the downtown tumult. This is a lovely hotel a bit away from other hotels. Although a 10 minute walk or short cab ride away from the night market, major shopping and US style fast foods, it is closer to the park and caves. Hotel has an attractive lobby and a gigantic atrium restaurant, which was empty most of the time. Many of the rooms have at least partial views of the river.
