“Central to everything”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2012

This is the big plus for this hotel as it caters for a large amount of tour groups which on some mornings at breakfast can be rather a nuisance. Many times there were insufficient staff to cater for the amount of people arriving for breakfast at the one time in order to join their groups. Nevertheless the breakfast was good which is always a help and its proximity to the night market makes it an excellent place to stay. Its approx 15 mins walk and the reception staff are helpful and will give you good directions. Walking by the lake at night is rather beautiful as 2 pagodas stand side by side and are lit up. Rooms were quiet and although they are building a 5 star hotel in Guilin I think this place will retain its loyal clientele.

“Good hotel, nice location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2012

We enjoyed this hotel very much. We got a voucher for welcome drink when we arrived.
A pianist was playing in the lobby/bar, which contributes to a nice atmosphere.
We had clean an non-smoking room and the bed was very comfortable.
You can easely go for a walk around the lake.
As soon as it is dark, the city is illuminated very attractive.
The breakfast offers a good variety of Western food.

“Good location, good amenities”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2012

Stayed at the Guilin Bravo Hotel (formerly Holiday Inn Guilin) with a tour group and the location is handy for visiting the old town and busing to Reed Flute Cave, Fubo Hill, Elephant Trunk Hill and a scenic boat trip on the Li River. Unfortunately our obtuse tour company booked part of our China tour during National Day/Autumn Festival holidays when millions of Chinese are traveling/vacationing. The crowds were enormous. The hotel was fully booked. My room #1804 overlooking the interior pool area was standard plain accommodation and had a clean, modern bathroom, hair dryer and toiletries. Soundproofing could be better as I heard people walking and talking in the hallway and was awakened at 5:15 AM by somebody coughing up a lung in the next room. The buffet breakfast in the Patio Café was good with both Western and Chinese choices and a wide selection if you arrived right at the 7:00 AM opening time. The hotel provided two complimentary bottles of water per person per day for drinking and brushing teeth because the water, we were told, was not potable. Shops off the lobby sold jewelry, watches, souvenirs, clothing, postcards, artwork and day excursions. Prices are what you would expect in hotel retail establishments (high). There is a fitness center on the lower level with steam bath, gym, foot and body massage (legit). The exterior of the hotel is lighted at night as is the lake, park and paved pathway on the property Don’t know what other hotels are in Guilin but this one was fine even when fully booked.

Room Tip: Try for a high room with a view.

“Good hotel in an excellent location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012

The main benefit of this large and busy hotel is its location, a short walk from the night market and well lit paths which circle the bridges and lakes of Guilin. Perfect for an evening stroll. The hotel has a rather kitsch decor with lots of velvet, silver and gold but the rooms are a good size, the air-con quiet and the beds comfortable. There was a bath and a separate shower in our bathroom, excellent products and a good hairdryer. We had one dinner in the hotel which was very good. The Western style breakfast offers a reasonable choice and omelettes and fried eggs are made to order, but the coffee is poor. The staff are helpful but away from reception, their English is minimal.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the newer block.

“Loved the place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2012

After saying at some terrible 4 star hotels in China we were a bit worrout staying 5 nights in a 4 star hotel in Guilin but were "over the moon" to find this hotel was an absolute gem!
The hotel has a beautiful lake setting, rooms are clean and comfortable and the buffet breakfast far exceeded anything else we had in China. Nice little drinks bar, lovely swimming pool and great staff. Thoroughly recommend.

Room Tip: Had a lake view room which was perfect.
