We stayed in the hotel during the Christmas holiday in late Dec 2012, it was simply unforgettable. We received a special welcome gift while checking in as it was our 15th check-in with the hotel group for 2012, with membership privileges we were being upgraded to a junior suite which comes with club lounge access and late check out till 6pm, friendly staffs attending to our needs n requests in the lounge, Shangri'la always elegance and classy, their hospitality is top of the top, is this excellent hospitality which brings us back again and again.

Stayed one night at the Shangri-la Hotel Guangzhou after attending a count-down event on New Year Eve. Checked in after 2 am and left after breakfast.

Even for such a flying visit the hotel impressed with the usual Shangri-La comfort, elegance and hospitality. Room was spacious, bed was comfortable and washroom facilities were impeccable.

What made its mark was perhaps the high quality of its breakfast even by 5-star standard. First was the wide choice of fresh fruit juice, then there was the fabulous selection of Chinese and western dishes. I like my congee for breakfast, and was delighted to find that this was prepared to order with really fresh ingredients of a variety of meat and seafood. The prawn and crab congee I ordered was deliciously cooked to make a good start of the day.

Then I came across a beautiful presentation of roast beef. Even for someone who never takes roast beef for breakfast, the cut on the dish was irresistibly tempting. The taste of a slice of it confirmed that it was as tender, juicy and tasty as it could ever be. Full mark for it.

I finished off with smoke salmon and vege salad as the perfect ending of a sumptious and enjoyable breakfast.

Would like to return for a more relaxing stay to enjoy the rest of the hotel facilities and dining experience.

I loved this hotel, the only problem is that there is no direct connection to the canton fair as the Westin does. In order to reach the fair you have to get into a bus and go through the same entry and exit hassle as thr rest of hotels in Guangzhou. The only upside is the 15 minute ride that you save.

Really up to the standard of shangrila hotels. Make sure you have a room with river view. It's just a view on the modern part of the city, but the ceiling to floor window, makes it impressive, especially at night.
Comfort, excellent service, a grand hall which is huge and shining, every detail is been taken care of.
I had been there in winter, but could see the outside swimming pool from the 29th floor, looked really nice.
Huge beds, very comfy, and excellent shampoo.
I just love shangrila, this is why I keep coming back.

Only draw back of this hotel is location, not really central, but anyway, with taxis so cheap in china, who cares?
