“Eastern yet Western as well”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012

It is an older Chinese hotel in a building built doing the colonial times of southern China. Still has the Chinese feel it is appointment but offers western amenities. Has both eastern and western food. I would recomend it for a safe and nie place to stay in that part of the city. I have stayed at the white Swan before in that area which is very nice but more modern without any chinesew feel.

For some reason wotif had this listed as an airport hotel and that's not the case it's actually half hour away. Got a giant empty room and a separate office with a backlit mirrored display case containing nothing. The bed is like a board, it's midnight and my 5 am wake up call beckons. Thought best to update tripadvisor's reviews in case anyone else gets lead to believe this is indeed an airport hotel.

I have stayed at this hotel twice - as it's only a block or two from my wife's home (or condo, as we would say in America).

My first stay in Aug 2009 was very good - good room, great value. Then, for my wedding celebration in Feb 2010, I stayed in a 1 bedroom suite, and booked a banquet room for the wedding celebration. GREAT!!!!

Very attentive staff (although, they were better working with my wife, who speaks Mandarin, than I, who speak only English). VERY helpful front desk staff, good rooms. VERY good value!

Also - this seems to be the "hub" for buses going to and from Huadu District - buses to/from Hong Kong, Macao, and elsewhere right out front. Great restaurants (buffet and traditional Chinese), and really good banquet rooms.

(Also - adjacent to the courtyard is where many people dance and exercise, and just have friendly conversations - in the evenings - VERY nice! Very cool to walk around and see happy people. Plus, during Spring Festival and Mid-Autumn Festival (among other times), REPUTABLE vendors (companies) set up canopies and sell mooncakes and other goods - or do blood pressure screenings or blood drives... VERY good community gatherings adjacent to the courtyard square. ATM's are in the lobby, and nearby. Also, a GREAT Karaoke and showroom adjacent to the property. Really enjoyable nightlife just steps away from the front door!

Not a great selection of scotch in the liquor/cigar shoppe, but.. oh, well.

Very good service.
Very much recommended.

I recently stayed here for one night just to sightsee as my grandmother grew up in this area. Not all of the hotel staff can speak English and if you are able to speak Cantonese, they will feel more comfortable speaking Cantonese with you. The room was 438 RMB, which I found to be quite cheap.
I took the bus from Hong Kong (Prince Edward subway station) to Huadu for ~ and this hotel is where we were dropped off. In front of the hotel is a bus parking spot where it picks up passengers heading to Hong Kong and drops off those coming to Huadu.
The elevators are extremely slow. We stayed on the 24th floor and it felt like minutes had passed before we reached our floor. The room was huge. There was a lot of empty space in our room and only one window looking down at the hazy city. I found the lights unevenly spaced in the room (There would be a desk, but no light on the table or shining down on it). There are not enough lights to brighten the room, so the room stayed quite dark even with all the lights turned on. The room was really clean and the bathroom was quite spacious and also clean(still not enough lighting, so it felt like the lights were turned down low).
There are a few restaurants on the second floor. The Kingeast Restaurant serves the same food found in the room service menu (When I called Room Service once, the woman could not speak English, however, I kept speaking to her and she eventually went to get someone who could speak English, so there may be a wait). There is an open restaurant on the other side of the floor which has dimsum and other chinese food for a cheap price. Bus tickets can be purchased at the Business center.

This hotel was origiinally recommended by a travel agent as somewhere to stay before an early morning flight from Guangzhou Airport. A shuttle bus goes directly from the hotel to the airport (8 RMB per trip, about 20 minutes).
It has all the standard business hotel facilities, including English-speaking front desk staff.
Rooms are well maintained and clean, although there isn't a non-smoking floor.
Staff were friendly and reasonable efficient, although I think they must have a fairly high turnover, as there seemed to be trainees all over the place - standard in a boom town.
The weekend dinner buffet in the coffee shop is well worth the price, but the a la carte menu there is pretty boring.
After 4 stays, still haven't got up early enough to sample the breakfast before the 0630 airport bus - sorry!

  • Liked — convenience of transport
  • Disliked — no non-smoking floor
  • Tips/Secrets — direct bus services from Zhuhai (Kee Kwan buses) & Baiyun Airport
