“Great Service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2011

I recently stayed here for the Canton Fair. Free shuttle bus there & back everyday. Hotel
staff were very helpful & friendly. So many smiles and warm greetings particularly from
our floor 16 night attendant.
Meals were quite good. The bar was pleasant with piano music every night.
An executive bar for quiet relaxtion and a drink is also avail
The area has a few eateries but for western tastes not a great selection.
Very well run hotel ,20 minutes from fair , very clean good value option
Perfect for an inexpesive quick Canton fair stop over.

This was my second stay in Guanzghou and I chose this hotel mainly because people mentioned here the Starbucks and the Pizza Hut - last time we were in an area where there was no decent place to eat. But the Grand International Hotel really surprised me. The staff speaks decent English - which is a big plus in Guanzghou - and they are all very helpful. The breakfast is really good and at a very reasonable price (90 yuan). Starbucks is right around the corner, there is a Mcdonald's acroos the street, a Subway sandwich and a Pizza Hut. The food at the Cafe Terrace is also very good - I ordered the Spaghetti Carbonara and was not disappointed at all. It is true that there are no shopping centers close by - except a two-story supermarket across the street - but since I was alone, I preffered to get around by taxi.
The area is not very noisy, and it is clean. It was a little difficult to get taxis, especially during rush hours, but the hotel staff was very helpful. It takes about 30 minutes by taxi to Pazhou Exhibition Center and 40 minutes to the airport.
I stayed in a Deluxe room, very spacious and clean with free minibar drinks. The gym and pool are also very nice (but the pool is exterior, so in the winter you cannot swim).

This was my first stay in this hotel. I visited during the Asian Games in Guangzhou (although my visit was completely unrelated!) and my usual hotels were all full. My room was nice and the hotel staff were lovely - I think they'd done some intense customer service training in preparation for the games. It was a bit far from the centre for me (it's in a district called Tianhe) so I'd prefer to be located somewhere else. Also, I didn't think the food was particularly great. Cleanliness got a four-star rating because I found someone's toe nail on the carpet (and it definitely wasn't mine!)
It might be a second or third choice option in the future.

Stayed at this hotel for the Canton Fair.

Relatively well-organised, as compared to other hotels.

Only set back is hotel's lifts were too small. Fits in about 6 people max.

The various restaurants serves good Chinese, Japanese cuisine. A little pricey.

Morning breakfast can get messy, perhaps due to the crowd?

We booked an Executive Room. The room is very spacious, and the beds are big, ensuring a good sleep.

Opposite hotel is a super market with MacDonalds and nearby there is a Starbucks and convenience store. However, no big shopping centres nearby. Might have to cab.

This hotel has exceptional food. The spaghetti carbonara from the cafe terrace is one of my favorites. The fortune chinese restaurant is one of the best chinese restaurants i have ever been to. But, it is not as authentic as it claims to be. The lobby is spacious and has a light european style to it. The sofa's in the lobby are rather small but have a great color to it.

We booked the presidential suite up at the 21st floor. IT WAS AWESOME. There was a huge long dinning table and an Aqeous tv ( unlike the ordinary color tv's) . There were 3 bedrooms. The master bedroom was huge with a huge bathroom. A walk in closet was also present to add to the grandness. There was a study area just outside the bedroom which made the entrance to the bedroom more spacious. There was also a small kitchen.

The staff were very polite and warm. They attended to my every need. The beds however were a little too hard for me and the bedsheets a little too rough. But other than that, the whole experience in the Grand international hotel is one that anybody who goes to guanzhou should have.
