This is my 2nd trip to Guangzhou at this same hotel. Overall experience was the same, nice and spacious room (Deluxe Room) and high floor too. Staff are generally very friendly and helpful except that at times, none to attend to you when u need to get a taxi from hotel entrance. Hotel does not allow taxi to park and wait due to road space issue so they need to signal the taxi to come in. Hotel staff also will write down taxi no. on a slip to let u keep so u can lodge any complaint on the taxi if you need to! Haha! Hotel breakfast spread acceptable only, improvement definitely required.

I normally stay at the Garden Hotel down the street, but I decided to give the Holiday Inn City Center a try – a mistake. I had booked a standard room and upon check in the girl at the front desk recommended strongly I upgrade to an executive room. Feeling this was the normal sales approach to get you to upgrade to a more expensive room when not needed I declined. When I entered the room the carpet was dirty and stained. The furniture old and worn - just really bad. I immediately went down stairs and upgraded to an executive room. This room was better, but certainly not like the Holiday Inn in Hong Kong. I would not stay again and would recommend avoiding.

This is a very average establishment and a bit on the old side. The rooms need a real face-lift and bathrooms are a bit musty. The entrance is hidden and the hotel is located away from a lot of things.

I checked in at midnight without any problem. I asked for a suite (why not) and got a great deal (roughly 170$). The suite is really huge, living room, separate shower and bathtub, separate toilets with second toilets for the guests in the living. For business, it is really worth the money and you can hold small meetings without having to spend a lot. definitely, it's not a 5 stars (cleanliness, service are not impressive) but a very competitive 4 stars.
