The hotel is a fairly new hotel,the rooms are really nice and newly furnished..the location is fairly decent which is near the Tao Jin station although there are not alot of eateries around,mainly the food chains...there is a jusco opposite with a herbal tea store,which was really useful for when I had sore throat during the trip.perhaps the one thing that could be better was to keep the gym 24 hrs?it closes at 11 which meant that there was no time to put in some exercise hours after dinner.fhis is especially since the hotel that we stayed before and after both had 24 hrs gym.

Now for a piece of outstanding service that impressed us alot...I had a minor case of allergic reaction that resulted in rashes and I had left the antihistamines that I usually take in Hong Kong...we called the reception at about 1225 and they helped us call all the pharmacy around,but most were closed already

We hanged up and I was preparing to sleep through the itch but they called and suggested they accompanied us to the local hospital for medication...

So we met Jeff downstairs who was from the concierge counter who accompanied us in our taxi to the hospital..what followed was an eye opening experience of the good and bad of china. The first clinic we went had a doctor who was sleeping(literally) and woke up when we went in (which probably explains his grumpiness).he at first refused to sell any anti histamine,but subsequently agreed to sell us his own brand of anti histamine,except that I had to have an injection first...what a weird request. Not wanting to risk an injection by a sleepy grumpy doctor ,we went on to find other places for anti histamine..

All through Jeff was helping us find various places we could try in the taxi that we booked..he was helping us to liase with the taxi driver,the ..even when we gave up and wanted to just go back,he was running down from the taxi and helping us find the nearest clinic...we finally found a hospital that was open and willing to prescribe us some anti histamine,the whole trip Tool about 1-2 hours of running around and if not for Jeff's willingness to go all out of the way for us,I would have been itching the whole night...

The next day before checking out,the duty manager still came to us to ask if I was feeling better,all that made it felt like my well-being was really looked after by..

It's a great hotel with slick facilities and great facilities and i would recommend it for others to stay at.

Stayed here for 4 nights in my last visit to Guangzhou. The hotel location is very good, in the "old" city centre of Guangzhou (the area around the Garden Hotel) although if you are interested in the newly developed neighbourhoods from the city, you must take a taxi or metro (Tianhe is less than 10 minutes away by taxi).
Staff is friendly and they speak English.
Rooms are big.
Gym is fair.
Breakfast is very good.

Transformed from an old landmark building in the heart of old Guangzhou CBD, the Crowne Plaza Guangzhou City Center is a new hotel I have been waiting to check out for quite some time. It boasts one of the best spots in town and is situated right in front of the subway station as well as numerous bus lines. Restaurants, convenient stores, shops are all nearby within easy walking distance. Location wise, it can not be more convenient.

Lobby is narrower but longer than most luxury hotels yet the entire space was tastefully renovated with a welcoming feel. Upon checked in, I was given a deluxe corner room on the 49th floor with a great view of the city. The guestroom came with a huge space wonderfully decorated with modern furniture (including a LCD TV, iPod station, etc) and a separate walking-in closet zone attached next to a large bathroom. Everything is new and well appointed. I felt absolutely delighted about my room.

Due to the peak season (October), base price of the hotel is high without breakfast although the upgrade does include internet. But the neighborhood is full of dinning choices so eating out is not a problem at all - there is even a mall with a number of restaurants right next to the hotel. Also, for a new hotel in a prime location, the price is comparable to a number of five-star hotels in the immediate area.

In all, I'm pleased to say my experience at Corwne Plaza GZ City Center is more than pleasant and meets the usual high CP standard. Many locals seem to share the same feelings - I was informed by colleagues this property has always been fully booked from the day of its opening and is fairly reasonably priced than other similar hotels around, even the nearby sister property Holiday Inn GZ City Center. I'll be more than happy to return in my future visits. Highly recommended.

This was our second hotel in Guangzhou. What an improvement! From check in to check out, the staff were much friendlier, with a good understanding of English throughout. Just sat by the outdoor heated pool, waiting for the airport shuttle. Tiny moan, could not get the room temp lower than 24. Metro just outside. Would recommend.
