“Go with the massage/spa - such fun!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2013

This is actually the spa name. The hotel name is South America Grand Hotel - confusing when you arrive if you are not aware of this fact! Rooms are lovely - we had a superior room and were very comfortable. We decided to have the Chinese massage and a pedicure. The pedicures are done in a large multi use room where you have your own TV including BBC and afterwards you are free to lie there at your leisure, that is until feeding time upstairs when it becomes a "feed frenzy!". Oysters, sushi, peking duck - my goodness!!!! However, this brought out the worst in people with plates piled high with food they will never eat. I found this part very distasteful especially having witnessed the sea of homeless people lying on the concourse of the railway station on our arrival. Locals come here for the day, to relax, have a treatment and then gorge themselves. It was like no other spa treatment I had experienced. Apart from the horrendous gorging that went on, the spa staff were professional and it was very well organised.

WOW!!!! My family had a 20 hour stop over in Guanzhou, after a cramped 15 hour flight from LA, on our way home after an eight week family vacation. My wife wanted to just spend the day relaxing in an airport hotel. I wanted to do something different. We all enjoy massages and being pampered. So I suggested lets see if we can find a day spa. After much searching on google, we found the Osotto. We arrived at 5am at the hotel 5am (still dark), the cab driver had a hard time finding it, he had to phone a couple friends (we spoke very little chinese). To use the hotels facilities we had to be guests staying in the hotel, we were all given pyjamas and flip-flops to wear for the day. Try the body rub down and milk scrub at the spa (only 65RMB), followed by a steaming hot sauna and a dip in the pool. We all had a 2 hour Thai massage (WOW). you must try this hotel!!!!

Great pIace to stay when in Guangzhou. Price very reasonable. Good internet. You check in then go for a shower and they have herbal saunas, normal saunas, jacuzzis and pool etc so you can freshen up. Then can eat at an extensive buffet and then relax watching the football if you want ( i went on a saturday ) check your emails, choice of foot massage or full massage, and also capability of getting capsule room to sleep. Breakfast is also available in the morning within price. On my last stay had the sauna, dinner, capsule room and breakfast for the price of £25 so a bargain really. English not the best but service i would rate as being very good.

we booked for 1 night at the hotel room but ended spending the night in a private room in the spa/sauna. The hotel room was very basic and not well maintained, however the spa/sauna was very well managed. Thus one may be better off spending the night at the spa/sauna where you can also enjoy the massages (average RMB78/session), free flow of fruits/drinks, buffet and the spa facility. A flat fee of RMB198 is charged to for a 24hr at the spa/sauna. We spent a total of 3 nights in the spa/sauna. We wanted more privacy thus we paid extra for the private room which could accommodate up to 4 people for the 3 nights (about RMB29/hr but they have special package for Mon to Fri where they charge lump sum of RMB150 from 1am to 12pm), if one is more budget conscious, one can choose to spend the night in the common hall with the other guests. Only thing is they have only 1 non-smoking hall thus there may be times where one may have to get a seat in the smoking area. We did not see a lot of foreigners. The quality of the buffet is ok. They also have a internet rooms, table tennis rooms, mahjong rooms. The staff are friendly. Overall it is value for money, we will definitely visit the place again.

I ve been visiting this place many times. First impression is the scale: thousand people can really enjoy at thesame time. Good shower, sauna, steamed bath, jaccuzzi, etc. have gym area and also have other sport facilities such as table tennis, pool. Dining is another advantage, you can hardly survive with their buffet because too many dishes: chinese, western, japanese and gain weight a lot if you stay there for long :) relax area are divided into few sections: smoking and non smoking (you dont have to smoke if you stay in smoking area: too smoky there, non smoker must not stay in there) upper space they provide a cinema so people can sleep there too, spa area means extra money if you want to use.
This is a good place with very reasonable price, especially you can get food, bed with less than 200rmb. I found that very helpful when couldnt find a good hotel :)

Room Tip: Non smoking area

I am not the spa or massage type, but for some reason, whenever I am in town, I get the works. You start with the traditional Asian spa, then move your way up to the 2nd level where you can eat til your stomach is about to blow. From there, I move to the foot massage section, only to finish my visit with a full body massage. The employees might not be able to speak English, but they are all friendly and are more than willing to point out where I need to go. About to finish up at the office and head to the spa again. This place is like heaven......

My friends introduced me to visit this club for massage and facilities saying the price are reasonable thou a little old & outdated. Went in a group of 5 in the evening, staff made us go through scanner as part of security check. A staff wanted to check our identity cards. am the only foreigner and had forgotten to bring so we decided to go dinner and return again. At 8pm, we return again and this round they saw that my identity card is not China type, refused me entry and insisted passport to verify. In order not to disappoint my friends who already entered, i rush back hotel and got my passport to enter the spa.Manager had told us earlier require identity card to enter, but never state require passport for foreigner. Manager replied " All foreigners have a choice either to present their passport or leave the spa". Anyway i enter with my passport feeling humiliated rather than spoil spot. STaff were rude, throw our lockers key on the counter. I asked for the General Manager email, manager "Li Xiang" replied "We h,ave no General manager". Place was a mixture of all category of people, from super budget to middle range guests. Outdated renovation. Massage was average, they arrange 5 of us in one room, noisy and cramp. one of friend massuer forgot to massage one leg because time is running out. Food is normal with wide variety local food. When we call for bill, they were also very attitude. When we ask to look at our bill in detail, they gave us one stare and throw the bill over the counter for us to check. You bet this is our first time and our last time. Maybe locals may find it easier to accept such attitude, not us who are willing to spend to have better service.
