“great hotel in center of guangzhou”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2013

Great hotel, nice room, nice breakfast buffet, friendly staff. Their italian restaurant prego offers great views over guangzhou and the food was delicious (but pricy).

Would come here again. Had a nice walk around the hotel, there are nice shops, streets in walking distance

“Nice ambience, Big rooms, Great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2013

It was one of the three hotels, I stayed at in Tianhe district of Guangzhou during my business travel to China, and it can easily score up to be the best in the area. The hotel welcomes you with a typical Westin's refreshing scented ambience in its lobby and in its rooms. I requested them for a higher floor and they agreed to give me one on 20th floor, from where I had a great view of the Guangzhou city landscape with the iconic CITIC Plaza right in the foreground. The best thing about the room was its size, one of the biggest I have seen in non-suite rooms of hotels located in the center of commercial districts of any big city. Most of the staff were decent English speakers. The hotel's location is a primary advantage of any kind of traveler. You can easily find taxis queued up during office-going hours outside the lobby and its just a few minutes walk from the nearest subway stations (Linhexi or Guangzhou East station). I had great dining experiences in Prego, which is on the 40th floor. You can really have amazing views of the city from the restaurant, with the IFC and Canton tower all lit up and shining in the far in the evening. I tried the restaurant on the 1st floor, Qba on a saturday where they were having something called the 70s' Shanghai evening where they had performances of professional singers, presumably depicting the 70s times in Shanghai, which was interesting. Overall, a great stay, it was for sure.

Room Tip: Choose the one on a higher floor (around 20 or above) and which faces the IFC/Canton Tower.

“Good location and good service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2013

It's my first time to stay at this hotel. I went there with my friend and her birthday was coming. When we entered the room there's a plate of fruit on the table. Surprisingly they also sent us some cakes as well as a birthday card, which really delighted my friend.
The bed was good as usual and everyone in the hotel was friendly and kind to us, from the bell attendent Joe to the Asst. FOM Tom...they impressed us a lot.
I really like the swimming pool, so even it's cool outside I still jumped into the outdoor swimming pool.
What's more, the location of this hotel is very good. You can walk to the railway station in 10 minutes and go to the shopping mall nearby by bus(one stop only). It's a good place for business guests.

Room Tip: The higher floor, the better

“Westin Guangzhou”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2013

A nice hotel in the middle of Tianhe District, very close to the train station. The staffs are in general quite friendly but need much more training to reflect the service quality of the Westin brand.

The room is clean, well lit, and with great view.

The executive lounge is roomy and a great place to relax, the staffs there are more professional comparing to other sections of the hotel.

My dinner buffet experience was terrible, food quality was below average, food choices were much less than one would expect from a usual Starwood hotel, the food counters were understaffed, guests needed to wait for the girl to finish doing her Chinese noodles before she could run to the sushi bar to serve. The ice cream served was runny, and I was told the fridge was not functioning properly, I was also advised not to eat it if in doubt. Why was it served in the first place (in a Westin?).

Room Tip: Ask for a room that faces the TV tower.

“Great Hotel in Guangzhou”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2013

The development in Guangzhou made it rather difficult to find a place to stay as the options for 4-5 star hotels has increased. My friends and I spent 3 days/2 nights in Guangzhou and decided to stay in The Westin Guangzhou after seeing decent reviews online.

The hotel is very close to the Guangzhou East station where we caught the train from Hong Kong. The hotel offers a free shuttle and we made it to Westin under five minutes. The hotel is big and clean and the service was excellent. We were also able to check in early.

We stayed in a king deluxe room and we added an extra bed. The room is huge and spacious, even after adding an extra single bed. We stayed on the 27th floor and had a decent view. The bathroom amenities was complete with a big shower, bathtub, and toilet. The bed was huge and comfortable. Overall, the room was luxurious and comfortable.

They, however, only offered free wifi in the lobby. This is a huge letdown as we expected to be able to use the internet in our rooms for free.

Location wise, the hotel is about 5 minutes walk to the Lin Hexi subway station. It's quite convenient.
