Main reason staying at this Radisson is the points membership program.
The only other reason is the food. The food is excellent, it has a lot of variety and tasty and the guys pull out all the stops to deliver a well presented sumptuous buffet every time. There is a seafood night with live grilling and there is a pizza night. There is also a grill night which is fabulous. You get open live cooking for breakfast (omelets’ etc) which is very nice.
The rooms are not clean. When I checked in I found pistachio shells on the floor. What other areas of the room had not been cleaned? Had the sheets been changed? Then I found a crusty and solidified half eaten burger stuffed inside the wardrobe wrapped in a table cloth.
My room was cleaned only once throughout the nine days I stayed there. Not surprising as only one cleaner could be seen moving around.
The door key card mechanism for most of the doors are no longer working so mortise locks have now been retrofitted. The door stays rattling after being closed to. The inside security chains have been removed from the doors.
Staff claimed they could not get in and out to clean my room as the room now had a mortise and they had no spare key or Master key.
A hallway separates the rooms into North and South wings. The North wing is quieter (Restaurant side), but stay away from the low number rooms on the ground floor (101, 102, 103, 104…) as beneath it is the laundry room with what sounds like an unbalanced washing machine that goes on non-stop till 12 midnight and often you can hear the spin dryer (also unbalanced) going on all night.
It appears that you have to build your room up as you go along. Fridge not working so called out repair man, AC not working so called out man again, light bulbs going all the time. Test every thing as soon as you check in. Bear in mind it’s an ageing 3-star hotel not the Ritz.
There is a health club for men daily till 2300hrs and women daily till 1400hrs except Fridays which is men only. Inside I found a working sauna, and another steam room. The swimming pool looked very clean and tidy.
Each room has a split AC unit fitted which the only problem is that such produces so much noise as opposed to central AC. The fan unit is inside your room so get used to background drone. It could have a lulling effect after a while and actually help sleep by drowning out outside noise, kids playing in the corridors, disturbances, doors shutting or people talking outside that might otherwise cause you to wake up in a quiet room.
I watch CNN on the TV all day when there is a hiatus in my work schedule to permit this.
