“Peaceful.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2012

I stayed here for three weeks last summer on business and enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere. The grassy lawns were a welcome change in a place like Saudi Arabia. The rooms are excellent and have adequate natural light during the day, which is always pleasing. The buffet has good variety.

The recreational facilities need some improvement. Although the gym is well equipped, the tennis courts were in bad state when I was there. Also, the swimming pool should have a shallow section for intermediate level swimmers to be able to practice.

The security bunkers at the entrance of the hotel are a nuisance but are needed because the road is used by an adjoining Western compound. Always keep your identity proof handy when you enter through these barricades.

Room Tip: Try to get yourself a room on the first floor for an outside view, and opt for a room towards the fr...

Nothing special about it, the rooms are old fashioned though and the AC makes a very loud voice.. Makes It difficult to watch tv or sleep

I stayed in this hotel when on business and the entrance is guarded by men dressed as soldiers who do checks on every vehicle and the hotel looks really uninspiring from the approach. However, once inside you realise it is is really nice place to stay, with very good facilities and good food provided throughout your stay. I was a bit dissappointed with the taxi service at the hotel, which let me down on three occasions when I arranged a pick up, which when you are in Saudi can be disconcerting. I would say stay here if you need to be in the area, but if not the Moevenpick which I stayed at on a later visit had a better ambience inside and out.

I stayed in the holiday inn for two nights on 4 and 5 December. A very good hotel, excellent buffet, good layout and great surroundings.
I had one problem that remained unresolved and seriously disturbed my sleep, that is, the noise of the central extraction system located on the roof above my room. I believe that this system has either a defected bearing or is unbalanced as the constant drone is just too loud. The room boy agreed and reported the fault. I did not stay long enough to know that it is mended but again, it was just a constant drone that unfortunately got on my nerves. Otherwise, an excellent hotel.

A business hotel. Reasonable value for the location. High level of security. Functional is a good word to describe the facilities. If you have dinner go a la carte as the buffet is too expensive for what it offers. Breakfast is also adequate. At least 3 hours drive from Jeddah, and cost is around 500 Rials by private car.
