“Short trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2014

Good location, very near to Haram. In the centre of the main walkway.

In room wifi provided FOC, Airport with free beverages. Iron and board in room. Hotel sajjadah provided.

Bad design on the sink as it is behind the door. Had to enter and close the door to access to the sink to simply wash your hand.

Promised fruit basket did not arrived!

Very close to haram, staff is very friendly, especially who are working for breakfast, thank you for Mahmoud and his team.
Elevator from parking is confusing, if you are staying at the second floor and using elevator from parking, you have get off at the looby floor and get on the other one. No sign.
Thanks

Dar Al Hijra is located about 5 min walk from the prophets mosque. We stayed here during hajj 2013 for 5 nights. Nice spacious rooms, lovely staff. During our stay room were serviced every day. We had half board buffet. There was a good range of food for breakfast and dinner. We also had tea/coffee facility in our room which was regularly refilled. Only issue during our stay was the lifts are not big enough during peak times like hajj/Ramadan. And during prayer times it takes a while to get a lift. We just took the stairs as we were only on the second floor. But I would not hesitate in booking this hotel again.

Average place to stay and in close proximity of Nabi Masjid.

Helpful staff and a great wide range buffets offered for meals.

However, the hotel is sub-standards for a 5* IHG hotel. It is in need of refurbishment as the hotel interior looks tired and old.

Comparing this to IHG London Park Lane/ Westminster hotels and Royal Makkah Fairmont Tower, this hotel does not compare as to what I would expect from IHG 5*, especially as it is in the prime location for pilgrim visitors.

Also not enough lifts and the existing lifts are very small.

However, the staff are very helpful, once you give them a nudge and food was great. Just felt the hotel needs a desparate refurbishment to bring it to IHG 5* standards.

Short distance from haram. Excellent location. Excellent breakfast. The best part is hospitality. Mr. Muhammad Ali at Reservation section is the best part of the hotel. Beyond doubt, He is an excellent persons. I have visited different hotels around the globe in last 30 years, but I have yet to come across the hospitality, help and support offered by Mr. Muhammad Ali. Thank you very much Muhammad Ali. He sure knows how to make hotel guest as a repeat customer and friend. I cannot even imagine living anywhere else during my stay to Madinah as long as Mr. Muhammad Ali is at Dar Al Hijra. Tahir Zafar.

Room Tip: If you come across any situation, just ask for Mr. Muhammad Ali instead of talking to someone else.

This hotel is located on the outer circles around Madinah Mosque and surrounded with shops and restaurants. It's just a short walk (<5mins) to the gate. Highly recommend this hotel if you don't want to pay the premium of the first row. Although it does seem like an old hotel but they have kept it well and clean.

I stayed in this hotel with my father and brother in October 2013. This hotel, although a bit dated, was very clean and reasonably spacious. The hotel is a maximum of 5 mins walk from Masjid Al Nabawi's King Fahd Gate, depending on crowds.

We were on the 3rd floor (non VIP rooms). The room had two big beds + a single bed for the 3rd person. Definitely enough space for all three.

Room service was good and timely. Food at the buffet breakfast and dinner was very good. The hotel is next to many shops, a shopping mall and of course the open air market vendors, so enough places to buy all those post Hajj gifts.

The only criticism I have of the hotel is that it only has 4 lifts. (2 servicing floors 1-7 and 2 servicing floors 8 -13). This mean that the lifts were very busy during salah times, when everybody goes to Masjid Al Nabawi. There is an additional lift which only goes to the Mezzanine floor which helps, but not much.

I would recommend this hotel for its closeness to Masjid Al Haram and shopping, as well as the food and rooms.
