“Energetic and great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

This hotel is one of the best places you may chose if you decide to visit Madina with your family. The best advantage is that it is very close to the main gate of women to the haram. The hotel is very close to the shopping area. It also has great staff and services. The hotel has Ana amazing open buffet breakfast and many resturants.

Room Tip: Try to take room that has view on the haram

I got a chance to experience the hotel, The Madina Oberoi when i travelled with Sarod Maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan and his two sons to visit holy mosque in Madina. We reached after long drive from Jeddah(350kms). First experience was warm welcome from the front office staffs and from the managment. The lobby atmosphere makes us to forget the tiredness of travelling. Of course, Royal Suite for the Maestro and sons. and a single room for me. After checked in the room first i went to window side whether i can see the mosque. Unbelively the mosque is the first thing we can see from the window. The room neatly cleaned and decorated. The toilet was ultra clean. With loads of smile and satisfaction did a express shower and joined the dinner buffet with Ustad. The buffet was fusion of all continents. Well they have to , the place where pilgrims comes from all over the world. After quick dinner we are ready to visit the holy mosque. without any request one of the staffs joined us as guide for Mosque visit. That makes us blessed to see all the places and flroish that night with knowledge and prayers. One thing i noticed to every staffs is the standard of Oberoi Group. We are so proud to stay an Indian owned hotel outside India. After all I went for a woderful sleep with loads of satisafaction from the Hotel and staffs. next early morning we passed Goodbye to The hotel and traveled to Holy Makkah.

Thank you Oberoi group to make all Indians proud .

Room Tip: All rooms are designed to see the holy mosque. So dont worry about the rooms. Pleasde dont be a walk...

I had been to Madina in November 2012 and stayed for 5 nights the Madina Oberoi. It was always my dream to stay at this hotel as I had heard a lot about it. We were a family of 5 hence booked 2 rooms for our stay.At the time of check in I was handed over 1 key, on enquiring I was told that this is the suite room which can accomodate 5 people comfortably. I wasn't sure how this will work out, so stepped inside the suite with some apprehension. To my surprise my doubts were uncalled for as we were upgraded to the Presidential Suite overlooking Masjid Al Nabawi which had a lounge and dining hall 2 bedrooms with attached bath and another bathroom attached to the lounge. What a suite it was. Had all the amenities that one wants and more too. There was an unlimited supply of fruits dry and fresh. The staff gave special treatment too!! We were in full board basis and had all the 3 meals at the restaurant. The food was a massive spread. Special mention should be made here about the desserts. It was one of the largest spreads I had ever seen in a buffet.

I had a very comfortable stay at the Oberoi. I would like to state that I got what I paid for. An expensive Hotel never the less but it does make you feel like royalty.

After our recent stay at the Oberoi in Madina, we were left wondering whether hotel staff had posted their own false but fantastic reviews on Tripadvisor. We stayed at the Oberoi for 4 nights and this is what we thought:

The staff at the Oberoi were really rude. The first night we arrived quite late at around 10.30pm, having taken a 9hr bus journey from Makkah. Whilst my friend and I went to the toilets, my wife sat down with her friend to have dinner, and as they waited for us to return, were very rudely spoken to by a waiter who informed them to hurry up and eat as they had been waiting for us to come and have dinner. This was not acceptable behaviour or a good first impression regardless of how late we had arrived.

The room we had booked was a double and instead we received a very small twin room with no view. We asked reception staff to change our room, and again he was very rude and told us this would not be possible until the next day after 3.30pm. After coming back to him the second time at around 2am and my wife explaining to him that the room was unacceptable, he informed us that a group had just left (surprisingly) and that we could move into a double room but this would take an hour to clean. He also told us not to tell anybody else from our group, many of whom had experienced the same room problem, as he did not want to locate other people. After this we thought he lacked integrity. My wife called back an hour later, to see if the new room was ready, and was rudely told that she should wait for him to call her. We did not receive a call to move into our new room until 4.30am.

The new room was much bigger and had a king sized bed and so we moved in. Overall the room was standard, and we have stayed in much nicer places. The décor wasn’t very modern or contemporary and the amenities were basic. The bathroom was incredibly small and tricky to move around in ie to get to the toilet you had to open the door, then close it and move around to the corner where the toilet was. We also had a tiny window through which you could see some street sellers and a taxi or two if you were lucky.

The room was quite stuffy and so we decided not to spend too much time in it, and hence can’t really comment on room service. During our 4 day stay we did receive a one complimentary litre bottle of water.

Wifi is only available in reception so very inconvenient. The bell boys might aswell not exist as they didn’t help transport luggage, not only for us, but for other members of our group on arrival but when we were checking out they couldn't collect our bags fast enough.

Breakfast was good, buffet style, eat as much as you want. Variety of food was good but we didn’t find the food particularly tasty (especially the French toast and porridge, and even the cereal tasted a bit dodgy!). We stuck to omelettes and fried eggs. The best thing about breakfast was the fresh orange juice which you could make yourself using the machine – this is something we haven’t seen at other hotels so we were impressed by it.

Dinner was also buffet style and had good variety but was repetitive over the 4 nights we were there. At least the waiters were much friendly during the rest of our trip than they were on the first night. Dinner did not include soft drinks – a coke was 7 riyals (£1.20) to buy.

The best thing about this hotel is the location, especially for women. As you come outside the back entrance of the hotel you are right outside gate 11 which is the women’s entrance to the haram. The men’s entrance is from 10 downwards.

The Taiba centre is around the corner which is where we did most of our shopping and the dates market is the cheapest place to get your dates from (located on the basement floor of this). Make sure you go to the Al Medina Dates Co shop and try and buy the chocolate covered dates in gold wrappers! (2kg wasn't enough they are amazing!). The basement also has plenty of shops for ladies Abbayas and just around the corner from the date centre is a cheap shop for prayer mats run by 2 brothers - it's a shop and there is another stall opposite so don't get confused. The Taiba centre can be found opposite gate 10 of the Haram (look for a clock and opposite that there is a Kfc).

Overall, we weren’t impressed with the Oberoi. There are one or two things that we liked, like breakfast and the location, but its not enough to make us want to stay here again, unfortunately. There are several other hotels alongside the Oberoi (which is in the corner) which also have the benefit of good location, and so inshallah if we were to return again, we would stay at one of these.

Just few steps to AlHaram AlNabawi. Nice staff.
in short words, it's an excellent place to stay in your visit.
Just the expensive room rate is the only problem may face you when you want to stay in it.

We stayed in The Oberoi Madina for 2 nights. The property is well located behind the Nabawi Mosque and within a few steps one is already in the compound of the mosque. The rooms are a little small but clean with good bathroom facilities and amenities. We were given a room overlooking the mosque. Staff was friendly and helpful. The food served in the restaurant was of very high quality and came with a wide range of choice. Free wifi is only available in the lobby which is inconvenient. In room internet cost SAR100 per day which I think is expensive. They also have a fitness centre for men which is useful. Overall a great stay.

This hotel is one of the hotels which is within a walking distance from the holy shirine of holy medina . The thing which really attract me when ever I am going there is the maintaince of the hotel facilities and rooms . It get more clean and new with time . The only disadvantage is the lack of Internet ( free wifi ) in the rooms , despite the availability in the lobby area .really friendly staff , they even remember you every year you go there . The bill boy is fast and efficient service . Food is excellent with variaty of resturant within the hotel or in the surrounding area.
