Alhumdulilah, we were blessed with the opportunity to visit His messenger's masjid. This hotel was very close to the masjid- we could hear the adhaan and even the recitation in prayers! The temperature control was perfect- I know sometimes in Saudi that is tough. The beds were very comfy, and the pillows were quite possibly the BEST pillows I have slept on away from home. That really makes a difference! We were upgraded because of our hilton honors gold status by the manager, who was very nice. The Junior Suite was very spacious and our kids loved the extra space. The doormen and housekeeping staff were very nice and professional.
But the reception staff, while dressed nicely, did not speak English fluently- only Arabic. You would think at a Hilton, it would be easy to communicate with the staff. That was one issue I had. The other was the need for updating. The carpets are very old-possibly the original ones- very shabby and worn down. I have little kids so they were on the floor alot, and I wasn't too comfortable with that. The bathroom fixtures and minibar are also quite old and outdated- the minifridge hardly kept stuff cool. And the third issue I had was that in this day and age, every room really should have accessibility to WIFI, even if at an added cost.
Other than these concerns, our trip was wonderful. We expect to stay here again, so maybe within a year or so, they will address these issues, Insha allah...
The higher floors have more space, if you are in a standard room (not a suite).
