Rancho's food is much better than Tex-Mex, but sometimes the ingredients they start with aren't quite the same as home. For instance, the salsa is spicy, but it doesn't have the full body of fresh tomato and other ingredients; the chips are real corn chips and pleasantly non-greasy, but they're a bit more chewy than most chips in the U.S.; the guacamole is obviously made of fresh avocado and tastes fine, but it has a curious texture which makes it seem slightly odd. Some dishes are great: The tortilla soup is REALLY spicy (great if you like the heat)! And the steaks are also wonderful, as others have pointed out. Dishes like enchiladas have LOTS of filling (chicken or beef), which makes them really satisfying. Sometimes service is attentive and great; but other times you need to be prepared to call your waiter. Prices are very reasonable.
