“Much better than expected”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2014

Before coming here, having read the previous reviews, I was actually quite worried about staying here, but my client booked it for me so I had no choice. I should not have worried. The Bashkortostan is a very nice hotel. My room was excellent, plenty of room, nice decor, extremely clean and tidy. For a business trip it is ideal, right in the middle of Ufa.

My room was warm, but not too warm, it was quiet and everything worked. Yes, the way some things are done here is clearly 'Russian' and its look and feel, and if you hadn't been to russia before would feel very soviet, but by Russian standards it is very good.

The staff on reception for my visit all spoke good enough English to deal with every query I threw at them, not perfect but enough. They were very friendly, courteous and efficient.

Check in and out is slow (but that's the same everywhere in the Russian federation) but everything else works well.

I never ate in the restaurant, so can't comment on that, and breakfast was typically 'Russian' but, you're in deepest Bashkortostan, so this should be expected.

Overall, when I return to Ufa on business, I will definitely choose the Bashkortostan again.

Swimming pool closed, spa under renovation, restaurant for breakfast like in a freezer, roomvery small lobby under reconstruction and all at a very high expensive price !
What to say more ? They think to be th best in the world, but they are a 1 star hotel in the rest of the world !
Only the position is great, with many restaurant nearby, but all the rest, seems to be in the stalinist period !

The hotel is very bad for business travel. A lot of the staffs don't speak English, the restaurant food are awful. The room-service cannot charge it to the room, and you have to pay in a separate payment (this is insane). Hotel management, please don't call it room-service pls.

The gym is awful.

I will come back to this hotel again.

Hotel is very poor indeed. No wireless Internet or English tv channels despite the hotel's claims. Breakfast was revolting and for £180 it was very expensive. Staff try to help but they cannot make up for the fact that everything is done as cheaply as possible. Avoid unless you have no other option.

The room was small and cold. The hotel's architecture is a typical Soviet. But, it is clean, the breakfast is poor (don't forget invitation), and WIFI is free everywhere. It is expensive for what you get, but location is perfect

I've stayed twice now at the Bashkortostan. As other reviewers have noted, many of the rooms are quite small (although there is a selection of larger ones), and the hotel harkens back to the glories of 70's communist Intourist as regards basic design. However, it is clean, the breakfast is okay, the WIFI is free in the rooms as well as the reception (a change from last year), the hotel is quiet and the staff helpful. It is expensive for what you get, but until someone builds a modern western hotel in Ufa the Bashkortostan is the only game in town and can charge what it wants.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for a larger room at the back of the hotel. Non-smoking rooms don't seem to e...
