“So glad we stayed here”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

Our one concern before choosing Vera was the hotel's distance from main sightseeing attractions. This turned out to be no issue. A trolleybus was close, frequent and a quick trip to the historic center of the city. The front desk staff at Vera spoke English, were helpful and friendly. The Hotel's in a lovely renovated art deco building. The breakfast buffet was great. The food at this hotel was very good. We ate at the hotel restaurant one night after our kids wouldn't agree on anywhere else. We all liked it so much we chose it a second night. Kids loved the pizza. A family of 4 including a teen and young adult, we were thrilled with our lovely family room which consisted of two large rooms each with a desk,TV, and refrigerator. One room had a mini built in kitchen, the other a large bathroom with the most elaborate shower/steam room that I've ever experienced. We enjoyed the neighborhood too, particularly the little grocery stores on every corner.

Room Tip: Great 4th floor family room - 420(?) next to meeting room.

We stayed at the hotel Vera for a week recently and really cannot fault it. the room was clean and quiet and the front desk staff could not have been more helpful. We also chose to eat at the hotel in the evening, which is something I would not normally do, but we were so tired from all the sightseeing. The food was excellent and truly Russian! There are also lots of buses close to the hotel which can take you all over the city.

The hotel is about 20 minutes far from the landmarks by trolleybus, that stop by the hotel every 4 minutes. Our room for 3 people was big and clean with a little kitchen, convenient for the evening tea. A buffet breakfast is included every morning.

The overall experience of the hotel is very positive. Hotel service is at very high level, all employees are very friendly and helpful. The single room was very small, too small I think.
After my stay hotel representative asked me about my opinion about my stay there. so most of the small issues I've experienced should be fixed by now. Maybe except water temperature issue - for unknown reason there's either hot or cold water and it cannot be set for something in between.
The hotel is located in quiet area, not very far from from the center.

Room Tip: taxi to the airport was 800 rubels. you might need cash to pay for it.

I stayed here for 6 nights in August 2013. I booked it for price, English speaking ability, convenient location, transport links and very good reviews. I was not disappointed! In every area, this hotel is well run. The staff are excellent and nothing is too much trouble. My Russian is awful so I was pleased to find that most of the staff speak excellent English. Plentiful information was available was available at the front desk. My room on the 5th floor was quiet and clean, with air conditioning (quiet), mini safe, TV, fridge, wifi, good shower and most important, a comfortable bed. Water coolers were available on all floors. Only BBC World News was available in English on the TV. This didn't bother me much as you don't come to St Petersburg to watch TV! The buffet breakfast was perfectly adequate and the food in the Cafe Vera was tasty and well priced. Transport to the city centre (Nevsky Prospekt) and major highlights was excellent, with 5 or 6 buses available a very short walk away. The metro is about a 15 minute walk. Taxi to the Ermitage for example, cost around 500 Rb and to the airport around 800 Rb. The local area is nothing special but perfectly okay. This is an excellent and well run hotel and I thoroughly recommend it.

Room Tip: I found the 5th floor to be good as it was quiet and the rooms were full size unlike the 6th floor i...

We booked hotel quite late, so we had to move from one deluxe room to another. The staff was very friendly, competent and accommodating. Both rooms were very nice, comfortable and clean. There is a small cafe-restaurant downstairs which is very convenient. The food is good and reasonably priced. My husband took advantage of happy hour. The location of hotel is good: 12 minutes walk to Nevsky street or a bus stop nearby. The hotel Vera definitely will be our first choice for our next trip to St.Petersburg.
