The best thing about this hotel is undoubtedly its location, as it is very close to all the main attractions in St petersburg, like for example the Hermitage museum is only 5 minutes away walking.

Rooms are a bit small, but clean and with high ceilings. The elevators are a bit tricky since if you take the wrong one you can end up walking quite a bit to find your room, but its not a big deal.

There is internet access for a fee, and the breakfast is also extra, but you can choose what kind you want (buffet, continental, etc.) The buffet has a nice selection and the food is good enough.

there is also a small spa where you can get an excellent back massage if you need, as well as do some exercise or swim in the pool.

I would stay here if i come back to the beautiful St petersburg, 100% recommended

Directly in the city centre, minutes of walk to the museums, surrounded by numerous restaurants and markets, locationwise it's perfect.
The rates are good too.
There are 2 sets of elevators, leading to different part of the hotel, location on the 2 sides of the horseshoe reception.
If you go in the wrong elevator, you might end up walking 3-4 minutes to reach your room.
we got a room on the 6th floor facing the front of the hotel.
The notebook computer picked up faint wifi from the bar above, which was good, since we don't have to go downstairs everytime we want to do something online.
Staff were friendly and helpful.

This is good hotel and a nice place to stay for visiting St Petersburg. Firstly it is within easy walking distance of all the main sites, avoiding the need to take taxis, buses or the metro. Nevsky Propsect is 5 minutes walk as is St Isaacs Cathedral. The Hermitage, Winter Palace and River Neva is about 10 minutes, and the Church on the Spilled Blood 15 minutes. Allow 15-20 minutes for the St Peter and St Paul Fortress on the other side of the Neva.

We had a Deluxe room which was clean, comfortable and well equipped. The decor was a little old fashioned, but the room was large and had a high ceiling. The bathroom was modern and well equipped. The buffet breakfast is fine with a plentiful choice and the Hotel Restaurant Baron serves excellent food with substantial helpings (particularly the starters). Service at reception and in the bars and restaurants was generally polite and efficient, if sometimes a little slow and "unsmiling". The Sky Bar is a good place to relax in the late evening and watch the "white nights" as we did; try the Cranberry and Bilberry juice with vodka!

We also booked a car from the hotel to meet us at the airport and return us there to fly home. This service was fast and efficient, we were met easily just outside of the customs hall, and the car arrived 10 minutes early for the return trip. Incidentally don't believe the horror stories of long queues at passport control to have Visas checked on entry. We were in the taxi going to the hotel having cleared passport/visa control and collected our bags 20 minutes after landing. In my experience this is about three times faster than arriving at Manchester Airport in the UK!

We had a great trip and would recomment the Petro Palace. On the day we arrived it was Russia Day, so the river bank and Palace Square was crammed until late with revellers and entertainers, but all good humoured and not a hint of trouble. St Petersburg is a great city, easy to get around with plenty of English signs at the main attractions.Don't expect it to be like western Europe, but it certainly isn't as strange and scary as some of the Guidebooks like to make you believe. Finally a special mention to British Airways, totally punctual on both arrival and departure.

I had read many reviews before proceeding to book our 4 nights at Petro Palace through an Opodo hotel & flight package which included our BA flight from Heathrow. The price was for a standard room - we were given a rather dark room on the 3rd flr facing the back - no view and quite a meander along narrow corridors. We asked to view a deluxe room and it was so much more spacious and the rooms had 2 large windows - we were happy to pay an extra 50 euros per night for the upgrade. Free WIFI was available in the lobby area - so bring your laptop if you have one. Although the deco of the rooms was not modern, it was clean and comfortable and good value for the price we paid. There is also an ATM machine in the lobby.
Location was great to get to major sightseeing spots. The luxurious Astoria hotel is further down the same road if you are willing to pay their price.
The staff were so helpful especially the porter and the concierge. The concierge desk is located at the back of the lobby area. Concierge gave us excellent recommendations for Russian restaurants all within walking distance. They also booked us excellent tickets for Swan Lake (Kirov ballet) at the Mariinsky Theatre and arranged for the hotel limo to take us there and back. We were not brave enough to use their buses and trams due to language difficulties.
I must also thank the head concierge Michael for his quick action in getting us to the airport on time. We had booked the hotel limo but as there was some world economic forum in town, many roads were closed leading to major traffic jams and the limo could not get back in time to the hotel to pick us up. Michael arranged for one of the concierge girls to drive us in her own car so we would not miss our flight. Can't remember her name but she was lovely.

Been there for some days. Reception desk staff quiet annoied when you ask something, concierge staff good service.
The room itself it's very big but totally unpersonal, avoid the breakfast.
Location is perfect, near to the main attraction in the core of St Petersburg, next to the all main attraction, 2 minutes to the Nevski Prospect. Catching the public buses, it the best and funniest way to get around the city.
