We decided to visit St Petersburg during the period of the white nights ,the most beautiful for this city.
We choose the hotel considering the fact that it has 4 stars ,so we thought it can't be that bad.
We paid 447 Euro/night for room only ,that means a lot ,we took the "deluxe" room because we wanted to be sure our stay will be a pleasant one.
So the room was great ,very clean ,big and we had a balcony looking to St Isac Cathedral.
The location is the best in town ,in a few minutes you can reach anything a tourist can ask in this beautiful city.
But these are the only positive things I can say about this hotel.
Very poor service and food at breakfast ,a very small room and lots of people standing in line but it doesn't seems it bothers someone ,probably they think that what is usual for them is usual for everyone. They even don't try to do something or to apologize ,this is the way they live and you have to accept it as well.
The loby of the hotel is a tiny space full of cigarette smoke and they have no laws avoiding smoking in public areas. It was so terrible to pass the lobby ,sometimes I preffered to keep my breath. Not to speak that it was impossible to sit at the cafeteria to have a cup of coffee or tea...
Their wi-fi "free" internet never worked!
Concierge service was a joke, even by myself I could find better answers than they have...also their english is very poor and they can't give you precise information in a country with no landmarks written with latin alphabet.
I asked at the reception to send for me 3 postcards and they said is possible if I pay 120 Ruble(3.25 Euro)/piece for the stamp and trouble. I paid and now ,one month after my return home I found out that the poscards didn't reach their destinations.
I've contacted the hotel and the answer was amazing:that's the way the Russian Post is working and not to lose hope ,is possible that they will arrive some day!
That means that they took the money (I didn't receive any receipt for it) and threw the postcards to the garbage!
And the last and most terrible fact: you can't ask from the concierge in the hotel to order you a taxi ,you have to use their "limousine" service which is x3 more expensive that the taxi.
And no, there are no taxis in the street and even if there were ,you as a foreign have "0" chance to get a normal price.
And: there are no meter taxis in St Petersburg ,they can ask as much as they want.
So we had to take this service from the hotel to the airport ,but there was no limousine ,they ordered a simple taxi ,so is clear they pay to the taxi the regular price and take the rest ....
I don't recomment at all this hotel and I don't recomment this country ,I know it can be very interesting but they are not prepared for the western individual tourists.
There are no english speakers even in the museums so every individual traveler will find himself standing and looking arround without the possibility to understand something.
