“Noisy but impressive.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2014

On one side of you is the large river Neva looking over to the peter and Paul fortress the other is the huge impressive buildings towering above you and the noisy dusty choking traffic. We travelled a week after the snow cleared, so everything was covered in dust. As you are enjoying the view over the Neva cars wizz by at 40-50 mph kicking up the dust.

“Fascinating and Enchanting Riverscape”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2014

The riverscape of the Neva is unavoidable when one goes to Saint Petersburg. The river dominates the geography of the city. The city is a mess of bridges, islands, and river embankments. The classic view of the river is either directly in front of the Hermitage Palace or directly in front of the Naval Academy - which is the yellow palace on the left of the Hermitage. Be careful when crossing that road - make sure you take the pedestrian walkway. The river embankment is stunning anytime of the year. Most crowded, busy with activities in the summer months - especially during White Nights in the city. During the tourist season, there will be food and souvenir vendors around this area. Take the time in the summer months, to visit the park behind the Naval Academy too. The food vendors arent' bad - pretty good street food and cheap. However, my favorite time to see the river embankment is during the winter months. It looks "Russian", its deep blue hidden under layers of ice and snow.

“Gorgeous embankment”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2013

We was on the river in a cruise ship p&o smallest adonia the scenery is out of this world. I have never seen so many fantastic buildings along a river in my life. It's a very wide River and as many bridges for access. The tour guide told us the bridges open at certain times and is easy to be stuck on the wrong side for a few hours. If was a incredible sight watching the cruise ship turn round here. Very noticeable the amount of submarines you see along the river bank.
