“Not Recommended”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2012

Would not recommend this "hotel." The hotel was clean and the breakfast good...the location is mixed...it is a relatively good walk from many of the sites in St. Petersburg, but the area is not one that has many tourists.

On two separate occasions, I returned from work to discover that my room had been unlocked by staff...this was a little disconcerning. As well, the walls of the rooms are paper-thin...the room next door had a piano, with guests who liked pounding on the keyboard for extended periods of time...no assistance from the front-desk.

No mini-bar, English-TV, breakfast room or other amenities one would expect.

Be patient to find the hotel, even my driver with the address was getting very frustrated in finding this well-hidden building.

Would stay somewhere closer to Nevsky Prospekt if I was to return to St. Petersburg.

Walking through the courtyard where this hotel is hidden, and finding a locked door with a bell, I started to doubt my choice (and tripadvisor). But inside, it was excellent. Friendly staff with decent English, big immaculate room (junior suite), good bathroom, and a huge breakfast served in the room at the time requested, and with a smile. It's also quiet, so it's not a problem for those of us that like to sleep with the window open a bit.

As an independant traveller, getting Russian visas is a bit of a chore, as you need an invitation from a Russian travel agent. The hotel arranged all of this, along with an airport pickup and some tours. Made it easy.

It's a comfortable walk to many of the major St P tourist attractions (Hermitage, Russian Museum, gardens), small shops and and local restaurants. It's a bit of a hike to the Metro.

No big lobbies, bar and dining rooms, but with a nice place like this, who cares?

This is a haven that is well off the beaten track but also within easy walking distance of all the main sights. St Petersburg is very beautiful but there is a lot of traffic (auto and pedestrian) which inevitably gets funnelled by the bridges, so there is a lot to be said for staying somewhere tranquil! Very friendly and helpful reception staff, and the breakfast is very good, delivered extremely promptly to your room at whatever time you may have requested. We had a suite because that was all that was available, very clean, and it seemed pretty good value. The walls are quite thin so a noisy neighbour might be a problem but fortunately we weren't bothered during our 3 night stay.

Don't be disappointed with the entrance off the road into the hotel. Once inside the door, you will be surprised. Hotel is spotless. The junior suite is very roomy - the siiting room has 2 couches, an arm chair, baby grand piano, satellite TV (but no English speaking channels). A very plentiful breakfast is served in the rooms. Tea/coffee, boiled eggs, ham & cheese, toast, juice of choice, yogurts, croissants. Our double bedroom was very comfortable and the en suite was lovely and very clean. Our teenagers had a large twin room with en suite, but spent plenty of time in our room. Hotel is 17 mins walk from Nevsky Prospekt (at Gostinyy Dvor shopping centre). Reception girls are very nice, with fairly good English and very helpful. The hotel is centrally heated and the rooms are very warm. We'd to leave the sitting room window slightly open at night. Loved the hotel and slept well each night.. Would definately recommend this hotel.

Stayed overnight having missed the train to Moscow. It was great to find out that everything was kept at the same high level as few years ago when I stayed both for business and leasure - rooms, service, etc. So I am joining all the previous positive reviews.

I have searched through a couple of booking sites looking for cheaper options (since I just needed two double rooms for a six-hours sleep) before calling the hotel and found out it was reasonably priced comparing to other mini-hotels in SPB (I have stayed in some). So this hotel has a premium price-quality ratio if you're ok with such type of a hotel.

Well, one can find the location inconvenient: the hotel is 10-15 minues walk off Nevsky prospect and there is no metro nearby. Moreover it is hidden inside a block of residential buildings, but for me all those are pluses meaning you stay off the crowd being able to discover more of the real city (their famous double-exit courtyards, for example).

we were heading to russia with another couple from latvia (we flew over from the states for a quick vacation). I was extremely overwhelmed with all our travel plans to russia - i read so many bad/scary reviews of hotels in st.petersburg, and the additional trouble of getting a visa - aargh! so when i read the reviews of this hotel on tripadvisor, i was hopeful. my expectations were far exceeded by this wonderful hidden gem. we were not in st.petersburg long, but i thought the location was wonderful. my husband and i are runners, and we were able to go for a run every morning from this hotel, never more than 4 miles, and see pretty much everything. great little restaurants are right around the corner from this hotel. staff was incredible, rooms were clean, bathrooms modern, huge room, very safe. and all the great little extras a small hotel can provide - they held our luggage for us when we arrived in their lobby at 8 am (!) from the overnight train from latvia, and great price!! i just cannot say enough good things abt this hotel. oh, and for americans used to a pretty sad breakfast when included with the room price, the breakfast was wonderful - huge!
