“Authentic, nice, Russian Cuisine”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2013

Two hungry guys ate well prepared, authentic russian dishes + beer for about 20-25 EURO. And it wasn't a lunch. I agree with a previous reviewer: this place isn't luxury, but truely democratic and friendly to tourists as well as for local citizens.

“Piter style”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2013

Since 90-s St-Pete was known with its good and cheap restaurants, Nowadays there are few of them still remain thus, and this one is one of them. It's not a luxury place, it's a typical restaurant from 90-s, what is not bad, it's democratic in the best meaning. It's simple and cozy, service is good, the staff is friendly.
Also I can say all my best about the cuisine. It is very similar to Czech or German one, i.e. loads of soups, meat, potatoes and other "heavy" stuff full of cholesterol.
Good news for all visitors is that all the plates are really tasty, big and quite cheap.

“If not for the food, for the ambience”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2013

Whoa! I'm the first one to review this. Might not be that strange though, this place is not something you would book as a first choice as a tourist like myself. Why? Because it is a neighborhood pub in the middle of nothing. I stumbled upon it when I was out doing some touristing by foot, it's near (on a side street) an old war ship that you'll probably find in all tourist guides. The area itself is empty of all restaurants and I was running low on energy, so I just slipped in for a beer and some grub.
The place is really cozy in a bohemian way, second hand furniture and oddball decorations all over the place. Food was nothing fancy, I had pasta with veggies, a Russian lager and it was quite ok. Prices are silly cheap, I think I payed about 10 EUR for the lot.
There where two girls in the bar that spoke English, but language is a problem in this city (if you don't speak Russian that is). As I was alone this made my visit somewhat depressing as you couldn't just start talking to anyone as the chance that they understand you is slim.
The place was only half-full so there was no problem getting a table and you tend not to feel so lonely as when you go into a trendy, fully packed restaurant.
This is the kind of place I would slip into if I was in Berlin, Warsaw, Stockholm, NYC or anywhere else for that matter. You just feel at home... Highly recommended if you're in the area for whatever reason (taking photos of the warship or if you're just lost), maybe not for the food itself but more for the ambience. Alone is ok, with friends probably better.
