“Very tasty Caucasian food and excellent service right behind Our Lady of Kazan Cathedral”
We were very tired and hungry late last night and were lucky enough to arrive to this friendly, cozy restaurant that is located right behind the monumental Our Lady of Kazan Cathedral.
Our server, Alla, was very nice and helpful, she spoke English and was ready to explain all our questions. The restaurant serves Caucasian food (Georgian and Armenian dishes, tasty and well prepared).
We had a wonderful fried cheese, one khachapuri stuffed with cheese and another one filled with spicy ground meat, Armenian dolma (stuffed grape leaves), pilav, salmon grilled on a skewer (almost like a sword, which Alla skillfully handled until the salmon fell smoothly on the plate, over a thin peace of flat bread), lamb (prepared in a similar way), delicious fried potatoes with chanterelles, and afterwards we shared two desserts: a layered honey cake and a small hot chocolate cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Everything was delicious and the service was wonderful.
The restaurant is a little hidden by the immense Cathedral, but it is worth it to try to find it if you are around Nevsky Prospect and you want to have a good lunch or dinner.
