“Great little tourist hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2010

We arrived in the evening and the staff was expecting us. We were given a warm greeting and shown to our room on the third floor. The room and bath were very clean and comfortable if not a little small; they provided us with an extra luggage stand and we were very comfortable for our 7-nights stay. The included breakfast was the typical cereal, bread, cold cuts, eggs, fruit juice, etc., coffee, tea and snacks were available at all times. Free WI-FI was available plus a house computer in the lobby. There was an ATM on the first floor.

The very friendly staff were English speaking and very helpfull with all our needs and questions.

The location is ideal; it is within walking distance of everything in the historic city center; the Hermitage is about 10 minutes walk. The nearest metro station is about 15 - 20 minutes walk. There are many restaurants from within a few doors away and beyond. There is a very well stocked market within 5 minutes walk on the same street. The main shopping district is on the way to the metro station.

Just returned from 4 nights at the Comfort Hotel in St. Petersburg which, once again, confirmed our feelings that Tripadvisor is an essential tool for travelers. Everything we found on Tripadvisor about this hotel was true. The hotel is extremely well located, the rooms are good size for European hotels and the staff is amazingly helpful and courteous. The furniture, bathroom fittings, TV and cleanliness are certainly signs of 4-5 star hotel.

The breakfast is quite good and the fact that coffee/tea and the dining room was always available is an amazing plus. There is a small grocery store right across the street and along with an amazing bread/pastry shop on the next block (right as you get off the 3, 22 or 27 bus coming from Nevsky Prospect) provided sustenance for one meal a day. The need to eat at a restaurant only once a day saved us a lot of money and lowered the anxiety of finding a place to eat. Having the hot drinks, utensils and a microwave available to us meant that during a lunch break or at the end of the day we could eat and drink (as soon as a staff member saw us pull out our bottle of wine he ran to bring us wine glasses) whatever and whenever we wanted at a fraction of the cost in a restaurant.

Definitely a place we would stay at again.

So the hotel was very good. Location was great, they let me check in a little early because my train arrived early, and if you have a question about anything, the staff is very willing to do the research to help you find the best solution. They also have free wireless internet, and a passable breakfast.

My only gripe is that the bathroom smelled terrible, and that permeated throughout the whole room. It basically smelled like crap water...no idea if it was just my room or if anything could be done to fix it, but I'm glad I didn't have any friends drop by my room.

Very good hotel in the centre of St Petersburg within walking distance of most main attractions including the Hermitage and Nevski Prospekt. Room was small but more than adequate.
Only offers a help yourself breakfast which was a good way of setting yourself up for a hard day touristing. Tea and coffee available 24 hours (plus free WiFi). Staff always on hand to help if needed. Hotel is surrounded by restaurants of varying quality and prices - particularly liked Baron's in Petro Palace which had dancing gypsies and a real live bear (well, I presume it was a guy in a bear suit) as an accompaniment to your meal.
Being Russia, most of the road and street signs are in Cyrillic and therefore virtually unintelligible to western European eyes so you're mostly on your own with a street map. Discovered, though, that most Russians even if they can't speak English will go out of their way to try and help you - problem is they sometimes are answering a question you haven't really asked.
Lot of talk beforehand of danger and drunkenness in the streets - never witnessed any of that, though did see one would-be pickpocket given a slap and a shouting down by a feisty American at the gates of the Peter and Paul fortress. In fact, other European cities could learn from the Russian custom of constant street cleaning - any stray pieces of litter hunted down with relish.

We booked here, having read good reviews on Trip Advisor, and we were not disappointed. All staff could speak English (unlike elsewhere in this great city), and the staff were very helpful. Our room was compact, but very clean. It's an ideal and central location near to St Isaac's cathedral, Nevsky Prospect and the Hermitage.

The staff gave us recommendations for dining out in St Petersburg, one of their suggestions, Teple, was the best meal we had in Russia.

Free tea and coffee throughout the day, the hotel will organise taxi to airport and look after your cases.

Walking distance to most places on the "must see" list. Friendly, English speaking staff. We were able to check into our room, even though we arrivedd at 4 a.m. Good breakfast.
