“Best budget hotel in the city definitely, best location!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2012

Stayed there during summer weekend. The hotel is in the very center of the historical part of the city. Everything you want to visit is just 5-20 minutes walk from the hotel. Rooms are clean, but not very big. Staff is pretty nice. Other hotels in Yaroslavl are either much more expensive or the legacy of the Soviet Union which is not that good :)

It was a weekend trip away to Yaroslavl after a week of work in Moscow. It was a chance to explore the Golden Ring.

This Ibis was well located and the dependable standard that one would know coming from Western Europe. The facility was clean, bright and the staff were enthusiastic and helpful. Special thanks to Alexandr and Maria at the front desk. With a French GM living on the 5th floor, Ibis standards were kept.

We arrived later in the evening from the train station. We were hesitant about taking a taxi and ventured onto the Tram #1 which drops you a short distance from the hotel. The fare is about 30 RUB and is paid onboard to a lady selling tickets. The ride is about 10 minutes and goes around most of the city. The terminus is at the train station, so there is only one direction to go for the 3.5km journey into town. With a Google map and the tram, it was an easy transfer to the hotel.

We got an excellent rate of £44 purchased via Expedia. The room was clean, basic and all you needed. The bathroom was good but the grouting could use a scrub and there was mould accumulating by the shower – some extra care could clean this up.

The hotel is quite new and everything was in order – not much to report. Breakfast is pretty basic but good value at 350 RUB . Television was not bad but only one English news programme, CNBC was pretty bad.

One complaint is the air conditioning. The air conditioning would only come on if you want to programme above 25 degrees. This required opening the window which let in a lot of mosquitos and subsequently a lot of bites. For this reason, a score of 1/10 for sleep quality.

Yaroslavl is generally boring, this hotel was good value and well located. By the way, really, really recommend the Ivan Vasilyevich restaurant in Yaroslavl – it was the highlight of the trip here. You only need one day in Yaroslavl and might as well make it this dependable and cheap Ibis property.

The hotel in is in reasonable quiet location not far from the river and walks nearby takes one through quiet attractive backstreets of Yaroslavl.

The hotel lacks style and has no character and has an overall sterile feel to it. There is no part of the hotel that you can describe as relaxing. Neither the bar area or restaurant. The rooms are ok, modern and clean. Prices compared to other hotels in the centre look attractive but what do you pay for? A clean modern bedroom but not much more. Certainly there are other hotels in the city for business and tourism that offer more character and style and with more friendly staff. The Ring Premier Hotel is one example.

I actually was born in Yaroslavl, and lived there for 20+ years. So, I used to think that there was no good hotels there - all they used to have (like 'Kotorosl', 'Yubileinaya', etc.) - were 'sovetic style' in the worst meaning of this word (no design, no service, high prices), or just really expensive.
And I got happy when they built 'Ibis' - a network hotel which is nice and predictable.
A couple of days ago I stayed there one night during my visit to the native city.
So, can tell mostly good things - my expectations were met.

Good:
- location (quiet spot on the historic center), lots of cafes around)
- design (everything is convenient)
- looks like it could look somewhere in Europe - nice atmosphere in the lobby, welcome personnel at reception, lots of foreigners, etc.)
- environmentally friendly

Not too good:
- when the soap/shampoo in a specially attached bottle in 'on the bottom', it is physically hard to press and get a drop out of it. There are no soap bars, etc.
- there was a company sitting outside the hotel, in its yard, shouting until 3 a.m. - and administration didn't bother to keep it quiet.
- free wi-fi has a weakening sygnal the farther you live from elevators.

I didn't go to the cafe in the hotel, since there are lots of cafes outside and the weather was good (CoffeIn nearby, Travellers' Coffee on Kirova str., etc.).

Anyway, it is an excellent place to stay!

Room Tip: Rooms closer to elevators (and 'center' of the hotel) - for better wi-fi signal.
