Just came back from the worst dining experience I ever had in years. Visited the Goodmans restaurant in Neglinnaya street,Moscow. Ordered with a colleague 2 steaks skirt medium rare. The waiter brought both within 5 minutes of ordering. The smell of ammonia in both steaks was so intense it reminded me of toilets in Moscow hotels back in the 90s. Unfortunately we both ate 1 small bite before returning it back. Waiter came back mentioning that there was no more steak skirt and that we should order another cut. More expensive of course. We asked to speak to the manager. A 25 old with no training. We asked why our steak smelled like that and how could anything like that leave the kitchen floor without checking first. All she could mumble was "I'm sorry, thank you, enjoy your meal". Can anyone dread to imagine this response at Hawksmoor in London?
Anyway we paid €120 for a terrible experience. No sorry, no discount, no nothing. Moscow upscale restaurants still a looong uphill road to match Chelsea or Coventry garden standards.
