Stayed in the Slavia for 5 nights after coming in on the TransSib. Moscow downtown hotels are pricy and overrated, so that is why we choose this one just northeast of the city centre. Three metrostops from circle-line 5 to VDNKh, and then 10 minutes on trolleybus 76. Piece of cake and very cheap. A courtesy shuttle is available on working days.
The hotel is situated on a busy throughfare but behind another building, so no noise problems. We took an upgrade to a business suite since this gives an extra sideroom AND a bathtub (which is a blessing after 4 weeks on the road...) The in-house restaurant is better than expected both for quality and price: breakfast also is just fine.
A huge hypermarket is right next door.
The staff is helpful and friendly (and for non-Russian speaking guests: most of the staff speaks good English).
In short: this hotel is value for money and I definitely will book again for the next Moscow visit.
