“Fantastic and a must-see”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2013

You simply cannot visit Moscow without a stop in the Kremlin and red square. Just standing there you realize how historical of a place you are standing in and how incredible it is to be in Mother Russia. It is a stunning place where you can visit the armory, St Basil's Cathedral and Lenin's Mausoleum. It's a nice place to stroll around and immerse yourself in the culture.

“Fantastic place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2013

Your visit to Moscow will be incomplete without spending at least one full day at red square and Kremlin walls area. There is a beutiful shopping mall adjoining the red square with lot of restaurants near by.The museum is certainly worth a visit which has a big canon inside and also a cathedral. In the evening the place comes alive with a bazar selling Russian made woolens, handicrafts etc.The street food scene is however dull.

“Imposing and with stories to tell”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2013

One side of the wall (alongside the Lenin Mausoleum) is a necropolis with virtually all the soviet who's-who buried there. It's a good walk circumnavigating the walls.

“Viking River Cruise, Moscow to Saint Petersburg”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2013

The Viking River Cruise is the way to see Russia because Cyrillic is impossible to read. However, there is a lot of English signs and we have exported our best to Russia - Dunkin Donuts, KFC, McDonalds, Berger King, Carl's Jr, Baskin Robbins, etc. After a 3 1/2 hour ride from the airport to our downtown hotel (started at 6 PM) we checked into the Raddison Royal, which is the nicest hotel I have ever stayed in and I have stayed in other 5 star hotels in Europe. Very, Very plush. The Rolls Royce dealership is in the lobby. We spent 2 nights at the hotel and took day tours with our Viking tour guides. They were wonderful and very knowledgeable. Every place we went on this trip we had our Viking guides and local guides. It worked out well. We saw all the high lights of Russia and learned a lot about their history. When asked the tour guides did talk about life under Soviet rule. The guides were very good about getting us to the museums and palaces before the crowds which helped make our tours very enjoyable. That was a big plus.

The Truvor was a terrific boat, about 200 passengers and 100 crew. Service was impeccable. The food was outstanding and too much temptation. The room we had was not claustrophobic. There was plenty of space to turn around in the bathroom. The veranda was nice but it was too cold to sit outside. The scenery was amazing.

The hotel in Saint Petersburg, the Angleterre, was not the same standard as in Moscow but the location was perfect. Saint Petersburg didn't have the traffic Moscow had. Again the Viking tour guides were fantastic and knowledgeable.

Moscow's traffic was a BIG negative. It was bad every where we went and anytime day or night. The need to get a grip on it downtown.

Every where we went people spoke English and a lot of the signs and menus were in English.

We can't say enough positive about the Viking Cruise and the boat. We don't usually go on cruises because we don't like crowds and someone else's schedule but this worked well. We will use their cruise to see China.
