The walls and towers are a huge landmark, visible from far away. I highly recommend taking note of them.

“the kost impressive sight in Moscow”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2013

These walls and towers are the single most impressive thing to see in Moscow, they are as beautiful as they are formidable, you never tire of looking at them both at day but especially at night.

“Viking Riverboat trip to Moscow and St. Peterburg”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2013

Last August my wife and I went to Russia and took the Viking Riverboat trip from Moscow to St. Petersburg. I gave the trip A minus my wife a B. The Viking people were wonderful and the food was good to at times excellent. I recommend that you do your homework ahead of time to determine which optional excursions you wish to purchase because from the first day you have to make reservations for these tours. In Moscow, if you love impressionism the Pushkin Museum is a must (which we had to arrange separately). My wife did not like that the boat docked a full hour (with traffic) away from both downtown Moscow and St. Petersburg which meant no strolls through the city streets. The lectures on the boat on Russian history were educational but at times we felt were just revisionist history.PS Moscow is the 3rd most expensive city in the world so eating and staying on the boat saved a lot of money.

“Impressive sight inside and out”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2013

The Kremlin walls are impressive from any angle. Just walking around the site, you will be impressed by the architecture and the sheer scale of them. If your camera is good enough, get a picture of one of the red stars atop the towers. Each stone making these up weighs 1.5 tons (or so a guide told us, though that does seem a tad heavy).

There are gardens around the outside of the walls, which were pretty snow-covered when we were there in early April, but should be attractive in the summer. There is a water feature area here with statues depicting popular Russian fairytales, such as the Golden Fish.

If you want to walk around inside the Kremlin, you will have to purchase tickets (as usual, paying more if younare a foreigner), but it is well worth it. There are some great views across the city from here.
