“need to invest on staff training”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2011 via mobile

stayed three nights in the hotel on a business trip. rooms are clen but very average in proportion to the rate we payed. wireless works very poorly and you need to keep typing these veeery long login name and passwords. heating was also working badly and i was cold in the room. staff can hardly speak english. they tried to charge me for a phone call i hadnever made and negotiations took ages ( for 1 us$ but as a principle i was refusing to pay because i never touched the phone!!! at the reception they could not understand as it was so little money....) business centre has very inconvenient opening hours. all and all pretty much disastrous.......

Dear lovelacuisine,

Though there is never a second chance to make a first good impression we thank you for your genuine input about your stay. We value your comments since there is always opportunity for improvement and are sincerely sorry that your visit did not reflect the high standards that we set for our hotel.

We have already started to take action to improve our Wi-Fi quality and usability. Starting from November we will reduce the number of digits in login and password fields. Also we will inspect the strength of WiFi signal and analyze whether we need to set up additional transmitters.

Regarding the issue with a telephone payment I would be grateful if you could contact me directly and describe the situation in more details in order we can resolve this issue and make sure it will never repeat.

We will be very much pleased to see you again at Crowne Plaza Moscow hotel and will do our utmost to make you feel welcome, pampered and appreciated.

Sincerely,

We stayed this last month, and in our one month traveling all over Europe, this was by far the worst experience. The staff here is terrible, rude and condescending. The worst was the reception staff, but just about everyone we encountered here had an attitude. It was as if they went out of their way to not be helpful. For example, during the breakfast buffet the first day, I could not find the coffee. I asked a server if they had coffee. He responded "yes" and walked away, without pointing out the location to me, or getting me coffeee. Any question asked at the reception was met with a disagreeable face and as little information as possible. We had dinner at their hotel once; overpriced and very, very small portion, (albeit tasty). I was very disappointed because we had just spent several days at the Crowne Plaza in St. Petersburg and the staff there could not have been nicer and more helpful. In addition to the terrible service, this hotel completely lacked any charm. The rooms did not have any special amenities and were what you would find at lower budget hotel. Additionally, this hotel was located very, very far from the metro stations. Therefore, if you are there during bad weather, you are stuck in this awful place. I would never stay here again, nor would I recommend to anybody I know.

Doni't expect any courtesy from hotel reception . When we arrived , we were greeted with a curt 'you want check in?' .To my rersponse 'yes please' came back ' passports please !!
The receptionist then left us for five minutes before returning with with room keys which wer handed over without any information about the hotel , not even pointing out the lifts or telling us the locations of the restaurants . That said during the courseof the stay the receptionists were functionally efficient if consistently unsmiling.Do inspect the visa introductions they send you prior to arrival .In our case they mixed up our passport numbers and the Russian Embasy rejected our our initial lapplications. Do not if you can help it book a taxi through reception . The hotel charges almost 50% more than regular taxis and in our case charged even more as they said they only had a mercedes available.
For example they wanted to charge 3000 roubles to be collected from the airport. We used a taxi service info@go-to.ru who collected us from Domodedovo Airport for 1850 roubles and charged us 1500 roubles for the return journey. The hotel has free wi fi so suggest take a laptop to order cheap taxis otherwise the hotel will rip you off.

Breakfast was expensive 1500 roubles ( circa £31 per person ) , evening meals in the restaurants were of high quality and worth the expense. The staff there were very friendly and helpful . In particular Andrey Ivanov was a star.

The rooms were excellent with a wide range of facilities and a high standard of cleanliness.
Airport Style Security was prominent at the entry to the hotel and access to lifts was by room card only

Hotel is 15/20 minutes from Red Square and I suggest you may want to choose a hotel closer to the centre.

The hotel is in the World Trade Center. It is located in the new business district called Moscow city. It is a far walk to the 3 metro stations, but we had little time on our own anyway. The hotel does security checks and you have to walk through metal detectors to get into the hotel. Comfortable, clean, good amenities, people were friendly. Nice change from the last 3 dumps Trafalgar puts us in . The hotel has several restaurants and a small supermarket. They restaurants are expensive like in any other first class hotel. The breakfast was good. It is far from the main sights but being on a Trafalgar tour we had transportation. We paid for all the additional tours since it is so hard to get around Moscow.

Having booked the Crowne Plaza my first interraction with the hotel was when I needed my 'letter of invitation' to be able to get a visa to travel. The hotel was prompt and informative with what they required which was a great help as I had'nt done this before. They do require a photocopy of your passport so don't send it to the embassy before you photocopy it!! :-)

We caught the train from Moscows Dom.....airport into Moscow and then a taxi to the hotel. The train was approx 250 roubles and the taxi 500 although I would always recommend negotiating the taxi fare before getting in, the return taxi driver tried to charge 800.
Trains run every 30 minutes each way between 6am-midnight.

The check in was sociable and plenty of staff were on duty. The hotel actioned my request for a twin room as I booked a 'standard' allocation on arrival room.
The room itself was large with big bay windows looking over the river. The room offerings were standard fare for Crowne Plazas, tea/coffee and hot chocolate supplies free and a chargable mini bar. Good sized tv and im sure it has wifi but we didnt use this service.
The bathroom was complete with bath and shower.

The room also offered dressing gowns, iron + board and a mini safe.

Downstairs in the lobby area there were several bars and restaurants. Breakfast could also be purchased and the charge added to the room but make sure you get your monies worth as its not the cheapest breakfast you will ever puchase.
Should you want a cheaper breakfast option, if you walk along the hotel up the bank, on the left after a minute or 2 there is a Costa Coffee.

There were gym and swimming facilities at the hotel, this was included in our price (well, the swimming defnately was, didnt use the gym). The pool was a nice way to relax after a days sight seeing.

The hotel is not ideally located for the city centre but it is by no means an impossibility to get too. The nearest Metro station is about a 10 minute walk up the bank and from there the trains are literally every 2 minutes. Having been to a few places this is definately the best Metro system I have used. You can buy multi-trip tickets very reasonably (I think 10 trips were 250 roubles). Obviously reading signs is a little tricky but do-able non the less....(Maps/guides avl from the hotel).

The hotel isnt in a prominant location for nightlife but there were several restaurants across the road if you dont want to eat in the complex.

Overall I would say that this is a business based hotel owing to its location at the World Trade Centre but as a tourist I would equally recommend it.

this hotel is below the wtc and hence very appropriate for folks having conferences etc in the wtc.. its located in the new business district called moscow city.. though there are 3 metro stations surrounding the hotel all are about 1kms away so there is some walk needed.. I was lucky since i got the rooms at the higher floors with a view of the river and the radisson which is really beautiful..
health club is also good ..
