So many churches and so much to see. This was a brilliant trip we had a guide who told us all the history, it was well worth it. Must go and see.

“Bring your own water”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2014 via mobile

The Kremlin palace itself is no longer open. There seems to be 2 kinds of tickets: 700 for Armoury & ground. 200 for 4 churches & ground.

One thing to note is that we were unable to find any place selling water inside at all!! Please bring your own water (I bought 1 bottle with me but there were 4 of us).

No photos allowed inside Armoury nor churches.

“The Inner Sanctum”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2014

Amazing to think that I've been inside this fortress, the source of many of the scary years of the Cold War. Besides the Armoury (a highlight which also has separate reviews), seeing the square with the churches and the exteriors of the Presidential official residence and working offices of the President is awe-inspiring. If you can be there Saturday late morning, there is a ceremony by the guards - about 20 minutes including calvary.

“Lots of walking”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2014

If you arrive with small kids please be ready for lots of back-and forth walking on a large territory. There are lines to buy tickets. The tickets booths get closed unexpectedly for 15 minutes a few times a day: it makes the lines even longer. Of course help of a russian speaking guide would be extremely helpful since nobody speaks English. There is also a airport-like security to enter the Kremlin. It is better not to go there during uncomfortable weather: crowds and discomfort would spoil the experience. But once you enter the Kremlin you would enjoy the walk: it is very clean and beautiful. Watch out for pavement washing trucks - they move with complete disregard for tourists and can splash them with cold water when they least expect it. On a hot day it provides lots of laughter and jokes though:)

“Individual buildings are not particularly impressive, but the history behind them are”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2014

We went in on a busy Saturday in July as a group, and we were thankful we did. For some reason, group tours were allowed to go straight in without queueing. If you have to go as individual, be prepared for a long queue in the sun. Relieving yourself before going in would be a good idea, as I did not see any public toilet inside Kremlin.

As expected, there was a security check similar to those in airports. Large backpacks (do not ask me the exact definition of 'large', but the local tour leader confidently made correct judgments) were not allowed to be brought in. If you carry one, at the end of the tour you will need to go back to where you entered to collect your luggage. Save yourself a hassle, do not carry anything larger than a children's backpack. A small camera bag is OK.

Speaking of cameras, you can freely take pictures inside Kremlin. The guards are only concerned about your following the defined path. Step outside it, and they will blow their whistle.

A guide(book) would be very helpful, so you don't walk around without knowing what you see. The buildings are not particularly impressive, it's the history that makes them interesting.

I had the impression that being there in the morning would have allowed me to take better pictures. In the afternoon you would be photographing against the sun (or maybe it's just me?).
