“Very interesting cemetery, but just skip the Convent.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2013

The Cemetery looks pretty much like the Pere Lachaise cemetery in Paris or La Recoleta Cemetery in Buenos Aires. Each Cemetery has its story and amazing sculpture and dude, some of them are really piece of art! The Novodevichy Cemetery includes amongst many, Boris Yeltsin's, famous poet Nazim Hikmet's or Gorbatchev's wife's graves, worth seeing.

On the other hand, the Convent, it's like a horror-movie stage, with nothing pretty interesting in it, so that would be just a waste of time.

“Great experience and history”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2013

Went here as part of guided tour with English speaking Russian guide. Important to make sure tour has individual hearing pieces. It meant I could spend a little longer exploring without missing out on the guides comments. Heard such interesting stories of Russian history and culture about the convent. The buildings are just beautiful as are the gardens. The cemetary is a must. Learnt so much about Russian's leaders and famous people. Could have spent more time wandering around. Excellent morning.

Well worth the effort to get there. It was a pleasant surprise out in a residential neighborhood! The cemetery was also interesting.

“Beautiful serene retreat in the city”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2013

The convent is being restored and is a beautiful space in the city. We saw many families coming for baptisms on a Sunday and also saw the convent lit up at night, Lovely. The Cemetery is a very fascinating place- do not miss it.

“Don't miss the cemetery”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2013

What a beautiful place. The Convent itself is very restful, a beautiful place. But I especially liked the cemetery, what a wonderful place to roam around! At the entrance is a map showing the locations of graves of people of interest, which is nice, but I liked to just wander the paths!
