We stayed 5 nights in Best Western Vega, and were very happy with our choice.
As in general we are big BW fans, we often pick hotels from this chain and luckily this time we were not disapointed!
LOCATION: this hotel is not in the center, however I did not find this a disadvantage at all! Moscow is huge so you end up taking the metro very often, so it did not matter that we always had to take the metro when leaving the hotel. The metro station is only a very short and nice walk along impressive buildings and little cafés and restaurants. The neighbourhood of the hotel felt very safe.
In general, Moscow is a modern, safe city and taking the metro is much easier even with the language difference than you would expect. Just make sure to have a metro map with both normal and cyrilly writing, and buy a 10-trip pass (you get for 300 roubel 11 rides) by showing 10 fingers to the cashier at the metro station :-)
The morning when leaving back we visited the market next to the hotel, a perfect way to pass our last hours in Russia.
To (1800 rubel) and from (2000 rubel) from the airbort I had booked a taxi in advance with "welcometaxi". It was less than one hour drive, only on Sunday back it was 1.5 hours because of the traffic jams.
ROOMS: We were very happy with our room! We had booked a business room with two seperate beds but instead of that (no availability) we got a luxe room with a double bed. It was very big and very nice with two big windows, on the 20th floor. It was nice to have such a big room with a cosy sitting area as we stayed 5 nights. Coffee and thea making facilities, bath robes and slippers, free bottled water, ... were nice to have. The bath room was compared to the bedroom rather small but convenient. The room was also very clean. The bed was a bit too soft for us, and my only real complaint would be that the bed cover/blanker was just way too small for two persons. But we slept well anyway.
FACILITIES: we just used the business center to access the internet (free wifi in the room also worked well by the way). And of course the breakfast. The breakfast room is like everything in this hotel HUGE, so not very relaxing and it might be difficult to find a seat. There is a big variety and the warm dishes change daily. In the weekend, it was more quiet in the hotel which made the breakfast also a bit more relaxing.
SERVICE: was OK. The staff for sure makes their best efforts. Our check in did not go very fluent as it was not very clear for us where to check in and we had some language difficulties. The problem turned out to be that our room was not available, but as we got the luxe room this turned out not to cause any issues for our stay. :-)
PRICE: I did not do that much research, but as Moscow is supposed to be very expensive, I found the price we paid very reasonable.
Would recommend this hotel for a visit to Moscow!
We had a luxe room on the 20th floor and loved it!
