“Old stylish in a good way”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2013

If you are looking for an hotel with a 19th century flavor in the heart of Moscow, with all modern amenities, this is the place to go! Staff very helpful while discreet, location just awesome and rooms are big and with just what you need. Breakfast room is just stunning, not especially for the food but for the antique decoration that is part of the charm.
I have enjoyed that stay and will be surely be back again - but as laways in Moscow, will depend on pricing for the next period I am around as Moscow pricing is very unpredictable ...

Positive: central in the heart of Moscow, nice and kind stuff, very good breakfast both food and location (restaurant with waterfall). Good lounge bar with sometimes life music.
Negative: small room with a smallest bathroom ever. Very high price for nothing special! Design is not modern at all and somebody may not like it.

This renovated 1913 hotel is full of old fashioned glamour with marble floors, comfy sofas and sumptuous bedrooms. Location was excellent within walking distance from Red Square, the Kremlin and the major shops although the road it is in is non descript. Staff are efficient rather than friendly and even in a top floor room it can be noisy. There is obviously a club nearby that plays throbbing music until 6am. Without the noise I would have given this a higher score.

I expected too much from this hotel, The location is excellent though! Just 10 min walk to the red square, Kremlin, restaurants, bars and shopping. The Lobby was ok.. the food was ok too but the bar was fab! We had an excellent bar tender that gave us everything we needed and we had fun in their hotel bar. The breakfast was good, huge selection and service was excellent! The rooms are not really nice. It's small, tight but high ceilling made a difference. The bed was uncomfortable, hard bed! Sheets were kinda old already but towels were fairly new. The carpet needs to be changed cause they look like they were separating from the floor and you can trip from the folds, carpet was disgusting! Infairness to the bathrooms even if it was small, it was nicely kept. They need to renovate their rooms, its outdated and i find it expensive for the room we had. They have to change the room or else i am not going back to this hotel. Over all, just an average hotel for me.

All I can say is that it's a very nice hotel . Even if the interior of the hotel rooms looks old it reminds you of the Palace Hotel in San Francisco which is very nostalgic. The location is great , since it is walking distance from the Red Square and the famous St. Basil's Cathedral . The staff are very helpful and kind . Plus they can converse in English which is a requirement for those that cannot speak Russian. And one thing great about this hotel it has WIFI which is a plus factor for travelers and it's FREE which is accessible even in your rooms !

We stayed here September 18-21.

A sort of quirky old hotel with a very helpful staff. Hotel Savoy provided a great venue for us and our visit to Moscow.

We found it easy to walk to Red Square, The Kremlin, the Bolshoi Theatre, and other notable area sites including the major shopping centers.

The reception staff was extremely helpful, one of whom had spent considerable time in the USA and his English skills and local insights were extremely helpful. Although old, but clean, well maintained and operated by a helpful and friendly staff, it's more like a 4 star property with a 5 star location.

We arrived by train from St. Petersburg and received a frequent taxi driver greeting of being significantly overcharged for our fare from the train station to the hotel. We would recommend always calling your hotel to get a general idea of the taxi fare from your point of arrival and negotiate the price in advance with the taxi driver. Also, for outbound taxis from your hotel, ask the hotel to order the taxi and confirm the price.

I stayed there for 3 nights this month.
The location of the hotel is really good: even though the street is not really nice, it is just 2 minutes walking distance from TSUM, from Bolchoi Theatre.
It is peaceful and quiet, clean, the decoration, even if it is a bit "too much" in the classic style, is in line with what I was expecting.
But ... The service is not at its top: the staff is not really behaving the way we can expect from a 5* hotel. The organization of the breakfast is really strange, with huge tables.
It could be a good hotel...
