“Good accomodations, some issues”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2012

Stayed a few nights on vacation (10/2012) with a group. Room was nice and the breakfast was quite good. Breakfast was included in my tour price but I was accidentally given a bill and saw the price was absurd for breakfast. I don't know how much I actually paid for the room. The hotel is clean, located very close to the metro and the rooms seem to be well kept. The only real issue was that when my small group arrived, all of the rooms had a strong odor of cleaning fluid (other people had other ideas of what it was) but that dissipated after the 1st night. There is a very good grocery across the street for those that like to grab good bread or lunch for the next day. Internet connection was unreliable for everyone.

Toilet smell in the rooms - lack of knowledge about plumbing results in sewer gas eminating from the restrooms in the hotel rooms and the public restrooms.
It is present in the second storey public lavatories and in my room. It is nauseating. Not what I espect from a Marriott.

Additionally, the lack of control over the room temperature makes sleeping difficult. I have to open the window to regulate the temperature and listen to the constant din of Moscow traffic.

Room Tip: stay away - the service is ok, but the rooms have problems

The hotel is well located ( 30m walkink to the Kremlin ), the rooms are very good
The breakfast is as usual in other European Hotels.
Mind that the restaurant is closed for lunc and dinners and the free wifi is only available in the loby.

Arrived on a monday nigt, passed the hotel after 1 hour in a taxi but took another 90 minutes to get the taxi turned around and back on the right side of the road. Not the hotels fault. Very efficient and all spoke english really Well. Window at front but well insulated to the noise. Food was expensive but good for a marriot. Would use again as close to main station and at least 3 metro stations.

Good location on twerskaia and not far from all the happenings...a bit difficult to reach during the rush hours....great functional hall with a good bar on one side with fine selection of snacks and pleasant music and always full of people...efficient staff at the front and smiling and good porters always ready to help along with the concierge....breakfast is good and also room service....rooms are up to Marriots standards.

Moscow hotels are notorioulsy expensive, and the Marriott Tverskaya is no exception, although being slightly further out from the centre compaed to other hotels in the chain, it is perhaps more palatable cost-wise. Putting aside the issue of costs, this is a well-located hotel if you plan to use the metro, just round the corner from Belorusskaya station, which apart from being on two metro lines, is also the terminus for the rail link to Sheremetevo. Tverskaya Street is also a straight line all the way to Red Square (albeit a 30 to 40 minute walk). For those who can't do without it, there is a Stabrucks across the street that is open till late and also a 24hour supermarket. Room service was of a high quality, and the breakfast buffet was fine enough. The room itself was quite comfortable (as is usual with most Marriotts). The other positive comment I would have to make is that all the staff I met were very courteous and efficient. My only major gripe is that internet access is very pricey, which when you consider how much they charge for the room etc., they could at least throw in free wi-fi.

So overall: well located (if you are OK with using the metro, which is very efficient, or don't mind a half hour walk to Red Square), comfortable rooms and good service, but a bit pricey if you are not on an expense account.

Room Tip: Tverskaya Street is a very busy road. I don't know how much noise is an issue, but I got a room...

We stayed here in June for three nights. Our rooms were spacious, well appointed and very comfortable. All the amenities were excellent. The restaurant has a wonderful buffet breakfast with every food you could imagine and a well run omelet station. We also ate caviar one night in the restaurant and enjoyed it thoroughly.
We visited another Marriott property down the street to take advantage of their spa. It was great. We got massages and a manicure.
This hotel like other places in Moscow does not frown on smoking and smokers. As one who does not enjoy the smell of smoke, this can be a disadvantage. But it is not one you can escape in Moscow.
