“Still excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2013

I wrote a review on this property in March 2012. Just returned from a visit last week, and they did it again - a year and half since the last visit and 2 different people welcomed by name on site. Everything about this property is first class.

We loved our stay here! The staff is extraordinarily helpful and friendly and speaks English very well. The hotel rivals any high-end Marriott around the world. The local is outstanding: central to all the major Moscow attractions as well as one metro station with 3 lines. It's directly across from Tsum - a luxury department store - much like Neiman Marcus. The rooms are big and well-appointed. The lobby is beautiful but comfortable and not stuffy. The breakfasts are one of the best international breakfasts we've had and is within walking distance to many good restaurants. You can't go wrong staying here - can't find one negative thing to say.

The location of this hotel is perfect. The rooms are Marriott quality, the lobby is lovely and you have just got to have breakfast here. There are ATM's in the lobby with English as an optional language. There is also a "bank" for exchanging currency. Hotel staff are very professional and efficient. As a matter of fact, I found the staff to be friendly (I didn't expect that) and very nice to deal with. There is a nice bar and we had a very friendly bartender. Watch out for prices though, two of us had two drinks and the cost was about $80 total for the four drinks. The best part is the location. Walk out the front door and turn right. Go for two blocks and the Bolshoi will be on your right. In front of you is a one way street that has about 10 lanes so you can't cross at a cross walk. At the corner you will find a stairway to an underground walkway. Cross over the street, go to the right for about a block and you will see the entrance to Red Square. Just walk in and explore. There is a wonderful restaurant on the left that is lit up with little white lights. You can sit outside or inside. They will provide a blanket for you if you get cold. Dinner was wonderful. I wish I could have gone back two or three times. If you go when the sun is starting to set you will get some wonderful photos in Red Square as the light is really nice at that time and there are a number of buildings that are all lit up in little white lights. You can walk around this area and your hotel area at any hour day or night. There are some really nice pedestrian areas that are full of cafes, restaurants, shops, bars, etc. I had a wonderful time here.

Room Tip: If there is a wedding or other large function, you might have to ask the desk where the more quiet r...

We traveld with a tour group to Moscow for the World Track & Field Championships. We stayed at the Marriott Royal Aurora for 10 nights. We enjoyed the hotel very much. It is in a great location - convenient to several shopping streets, the Moscow Metro and the Bolshoi Ballet Theater. The hotel has a relatively new interior, shiny marble in the lobby, a great dining room where we were served a great buffet breakfast every morning. We just gave them our room number. The other restaurants in the hotel are relatively expensive. (For example, went to the lobby bar where my wife and I each had a bowl of soup, a Coke to drink and a California Roll to share. The bill was $100.) But Moscow is an expensive city. We definitely felt at home at the Royal Aurora.

1 week in Moscow at one of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed in. The health club was amazing, not your average pocket pool, but one with resistance! huge hot tub, dry and wet saunas, lockers - absolutely and huge plus to staying here! We upgraded to the executive level and thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast buffet and evening blue cheese and apple with my glass of wine. The staff was exceptional!

Room Tip: don't stay on the 7th floor - window was too high to see out.

After all the Negative feedback about Moscow I was a little sceptical about my trip. On arriving at the Hotel we were met with friendly and helpful staff. At breakfast the staff were well versed in the English language therefore no issues there. The food was of Buffet style with an Omelette station . coffee and juice service always with a smile. The room was excellent ,bedding changed daily which was refreshing .Money exchange very good on site .The bar is very expensive so be careful there. Very well situated for downtown ,within walking distance to the Metro and Bolshoi also Kremlin not too far.

Room Tip: Higher floors have less A/C unit noise
