“Cool, Clean & Comfortable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2014

I stayed here 28/02/2014 - 04/03/2014 If you want to party don't stay here. But if you want a nice quite cool place to stay don't delay book today. A nice small hostel very clean. The staff speak good English and will help and advise you on tours and trips. Situated about 10 minutes from Red Square and Gum shopping centre. Major high end shops near bye, Louis Viton, Gucci, Prada etc. I stayed in a dorm room plenty of space and a reasonable sized locker a key is provided. Should I return to Moscow this would be the place I would stay.

Location: Very good, walking distance to Red Square and close to a metro station. Several restaurants near by as well. Supermarket also close (Azbuka Vkusa).

Room: Double room private. Very large, television, dvd player and dvds. On one side the slats of the bed were a bit broken, but did not affect sleep. Couldn't hear any other rooms from our room.

Bathroom: Shared but not really a problem. One shower and a separate bathroom. Clean.

Kitchen: Fairly spacious and had fridge and adequate cooking space. Clean.

Breakfast: Not included. Bought breakfasts from supermarket mentioned above (nice croissants and pastries, not too expensive)

Other: Was in the building away from the reception - would recommend this one. Quieter and less people. Laundry and ironing can be organised cheaply (washing machine in bathroom). Had to take off shoes all the time which was a bit of an inconvenience (it was not snowing or raining outside).

Value: Ok. Probably paid what I would have paid in a 3-star hotel a bit further out, but the location made it worth it.

Room Tip: Get a room in the building away from reception

The location is very easily accessible by metro and very close to main attractions. The area is very nice and the buiding where the hostel is located is very well maintained and in excellent condition. The hostel itself is very clean and tidy. We stayed in a doubl room which was very big and comfortable. Staff was helpful, speaking excellent English. Would definitely recommend this place!

This hostel has good prices and is next to the main atractions of Moscow. The team is very good and help you in any you need. I travelled alone and is very difficult when you are in a city that a few people speak English, then if you are thinking to travel to Moscow is a good place to stay.

we are just returned from moscow and we stayed at ivan hostel just one night but it was enough time to like everything about it. it is really well located, less than 7 minutes walking to the metro station "chekhovskaya", very easy to reach from airport and train station. thanks to great Moscow's metro system, you can reach aby attraction in the city from this metro station in less than 30 minutes even the Ismailovskey park or sparrow hills which are almost in the suburb.
red square and arbat street is in walking distance or just one metro station. you can find lots of bars, restaurants, cafe and clubs near the hostel.
we had 3 beds in a four beds room, it was clean and very bright. the kitchen was well equipped and clean with a coffee maker, fridge and oven. there is not a separate dining area, just two tables each with four chair, in the kitchen.
bathroom is large but there is just one so you must wait for it to be free and also for w.c , there i the same problem, but they are always clean.
staff was very very helpful and friendly, they gave us all of the addresses we need for city attractions and good restaurants and clubs. they do their best to make you feel home and satisfied. they speak English good specially Nick, he is perfect. Daniel, the other guy, he is also very nice and helped us even with our suitcases.
I recommend this property for sure. we had a great time there.
we stayed at apartment number 23.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2013

We stayed at this hostel for six days in September. The location is first rate. It is very near the Metro. There are numerous restaurants near by. A grocery store is also fairly close. I must point out we are not usually hostel patrons. We chose this one because of it's good reviews and location. There is a rotation of people looking after guests. All speak good English and were very helpful. The young lady that does the cleaning does a very good job. Our big concern was lack of enforcement of rules. There is a rule about noise after eleven which was not enforced. Also on occasion there were few glasses and cups available. I do not blame staff for this. People are supposed to use, clean and put back what ever was used. This did not happen. . As someone pointed out this is just basically an apartment. There is one shower and sink. If the hostel is near capacity there could be a real problem getting in to use the sink and shower. Fortunately the toilet is separate so that helps..

I stayed at this place during my trip to Russia (Moscow, St. Petersburg) and was quite pleased. I chose iVAN hostel because it location is very convenient as a hub for explore of main sights of the city. More pluses: great team, fast WiFi, comfortable beds. Good price, can be recommended to the young people. Minuses: showers was not enough.
