This is one of seven so-called "Stalin Skyscrapers" erected in Moscow soon after the end of WW II. The other building of the same sort were erected in Riga and Warsaw. Of course, a common tourist will not be let in but s/he can observe the building from the outside and compare with famous skyscrapers in the US (they say, the Empire State Building served as the prototipe for "Stalin skyscrapers"). Besides, this is the place tightly related to many important pages of contemporary world history, for example, related to the Cald War; in fact, to all the important international events in which the USSR and then the Russian Federation were involved.
