“Business class Moscow to St. Petersburg”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2013

Pros: Left on time and arrived nearly on time. Slippers, a hot meal with wine, and earplugs were provided. Very comfortable leather upholstered seats, with large picture windows. Smooth ride (train built by Siemens of Germany). Arrives near downtown St. Petersburg, a short taxi ride to most hotels.
Cons: Unless you board early, luggage storage space is limited. If you book outside Russia, be sure to have your ticket number when printing ticket from train station lobby machine, otherwise you may have to see the station master (which requires an interpreter). Wi-Fi is advertised, but did not work at all on my journey. The journey is not picturesque (take reading materials or sleep).
Summary: Better than flying

“Rivals Europe's Best But Book Ahead”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2013

We took the Sapsan train from St. Petersburg to Moscow, traversing over 800 kilometers in under 4 hours. Train is comfortable and, while not quite as fast at the TGV, rivals Europes best. But be sure to book ahead as it is very popular with Russians as well as tourists and our Monday morning train was totally full.

“First Class Comfort!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2013

We booked our tickets through their website, book our seat, and was pleasantly surprised , the train is very spacious, clean, proper toilets much better standard than the Swiss trains we have in Switzerland . It was a 4 hours train ride on this speedy train from Moscow. The train station is under renovation, so we had to struggle in with our luggage, but it was not an issue at all. A very comfortable way to travel between Moscow and St Petersburg.

“Sapsan Train”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2013

We took the train from Moscow to St Petersburg and back. The departing station is too crowded and scaring, but it is not dangerous, arrive with time because you have to go through controlls. Punctuallity and comfort was perfect, the train was clean, even the bathrooms and food was good and unexpensive. It had very little stops so we had time to read and to have a look at the country. I would recommend to take the afternoon train because we last all day as we took the mid day train.
