“Could run faster.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2012

We took the train from St. Petersburg to Moscow. It's the same train you see as ICE on the German lines made by Siemens., but sadly the train never crosses the 200kmph barrier whereas the same train reaches 350 kmph in Germany.
The view outside is terrible and I can bet there you will not get a good photo oppurtunity as there is nothing to see and thus click.
The seats are comfortable though.

“a lst class, smooth, fast way to travel from St Petersburg to Moscow”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2012

The train was super modern, fast , clean and there was a major effort to give everything in both Russian English. The train is a lst class experience and a 4 and a half hour way to travel between Russias two super cities.

“Is it better than First Great Western?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2012

Travelled to St Petersburg, tickets for the 6.45am sold out so couldn't get that one which is quicker than the afternoon ones (relief as who wants to get up that early anyway). Got the afternoon train, very clean, it didn't seem to go as fast as you would think, although obviously it is going fast. Plenty of beverages/food to but in the buffet, nice spacious toilets (better than the UK train loos). Subway and some food places at the station if you want to take on food. Arriving at St Petersburg there's plenty of taxis to take you on to your destination but they do charge the earth and try to rip you off.

“Moscow to Nizhny Novgorod in just over 3 hours!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2012

Russian trains are notoriously slow ... but the Sapsan brings a bit of modernity to the aging rail system. Travel in comfort on a modern, German built bullet train from Moscow to Nizhny or St. Petersburg and get there in a fraction of the time than using a "normal" train.

it is more expensive - but if you value your time or would prefer to use it exploring these cities - it's worth it.
