“Cheap & Central located!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2011

The first thing that keep your attention it's of course the price, because sleeping in Moscow is realle expensive, and be sure that you cannot find definitly nothing else at this price.
The position is really good. You have a metro station less than 5 mins walking, a supermarket (maybe 24h open, even if not sure). You have few option to go walking somewhere directly from b&b, but Moscow is absolutly not be explored on foot.

We had a big room, even if the furniture (except the bed, from Ikea) is a little bit... "vintage"! (Expecially the sofa...!)

Few plugs more in the wall would be great, because in the room we had only two.

Great wifi connection, it saves my trip! Check for streets, address and info! Don't go out without those, because you cannot have info in english from people around the city!

But for sure the difference in this b&b is made from the owner! Ruslin was great, totally avaible! Very easy contacts before our arrival and help till the last minute we spent in that place! Absolute ok!

We stayed at Vanilla earlier this month at the start of our trip. The cost worked out at about £55 a night for a private room with a shared bathroom, which would be extortionate anywhere else other than Moscow! It was hence comparable with (and in some cases cheaper than) private rooms in hostels close to the centre, and due to the small, cosy nature of the B&B, we went with Vanilla over a busy hostel.

Prior to arriving, the communication with Ruslin was superb, we used him for visa invitations, and he also gave prompt responses with any questions concerning directions and information etc. The service that he provided once we had arrived was also excellent, we were able to wash our clothes before flying on to China, store our bags during our final day; Ruslin also facilitated the opportunity to check-in on-line and print out our e-ticket for our flight, this was really helpful.

The second big positive about staying at Vanilla is it's location. The website instructions for finding the B&B are entirely accurate, it is very close to Tverskaya station, and the directions from the metro are correct up until the point of knowing which door is Vanilla's, there is consequently no way of knowing whether you have reached the place! At this point, two men approached us and looked at our booking confirmation, opened the wooden door and took us inside to the Bed and Breakfast.

You are only a 15-20 minute walk down to Red Square, or one stop down to 'TEATRAL’NAYA' to be in the historical centre of Moscow.

The room was clean and spacious, there are just some little things that perhaps would make a stay more enjoyable. A change of towels would have been appreciated, there isn't anywhere in the room to hang a towel and let it dry. Bigger and better pillows would have also made for a better night's sleep. The decoration of the walls could do with a 'spruce' up, just to breath a bit of life into the room.

What did let our stay down was how paper-thin the walls in our room truly were - the room next door was directly split from ours by a partition wall, but more importantly a locked, adjoining door. There was not a problem until 2 guests using the room came back in the middle of the night, it was then as if they were in the same room!

However, I would recommend Vanilla as an affordable night in a central location if seeing Moscow on a budget.

This place is very new and fresh. Most guests are young backpackers. We stayed 3 days in August and liked it a lot. Free wi-fi worked well, there is free printing service, laundry and breakfast included in price. Our bed in superior room had very comfortable mattress, we could sleep till noon. Tv has mainly Russian channels, but as we spent our day in the city, it was ok.

Ruslan was a very good host. We enjoyed our stay. The price was also amazing. We had an private room which had a lovely furnishing. And the place is also close to the Pushkin Square, where the main shopping area begins. It's also close to the red square and Kremlin. You can walk to there within 12-20 minutes.
If we come again to Moscow, this will definitely be our preffered accomaodation. The free breakfast and the cookong facilities were also nice.

This was a great bed and breakfast to stay at. Very close to popular places in Moscow and for a good price. Small, but with a nice home-like feel. Very clean with a small kitchen that provides basic cookware. A little hard to find, but had a very good host who came when we needed. Thanks a bunch, we would definitely stay here again if we traveled to Moscow.

I basically booked this bed and breakfast for its proximity to Mayakovskaya metro station. But it was also very convenient to get to Kremlin and Arbat!
The room is as advertised - a big size for two people, big double bed with one standard matress and one thin matress. So it was hard to wake up early - the sleep was very very good and location is very quite, despite it's on the first floor.
The property could have used a bit more cleaning - it was tidy but could have used a bit more attention to windows and room corners.
Breakfast was basic. Bathroom had shower gel, shampoo, hair dryer and LUSH (!) soap so it was always nice to get inside!

Overall a good experience and good value for money.
