“Excellent Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2012

Hotel near to touristic area of moscow. Room was not very luxury and clean . Downstairs of hotel has a bar restaurant. You cant sleep easy in the night. But when i stayed in this hotel is was winter time and i was very tired. I slept and not lived more problems.

The best thing about the Hotel is the location, next to the Savoy Hotel and opposite the Metropol. Walk to red Square and several central Metro Stations. Rooms are clean and varied each designed by different artists. Avoid the weekends if you want to sleep at all. club down stairs very loud. The price for the location is good, breakfast very basic but the coffee was good. very surprised to walk downstairs at 0730 on Monday morning to find the club on the ground floor still going from night before. For 4 nights the stay was OK.

I've said it all. Location. It is in the same block of 5 star hotels, with the price of 1 star. The rooms are clean and with personality but really compact. Get one with a window if you can. Do yourself a favor and google map the entrance. It is in the middle of two buildings past a car entrance, you will NOT see it from the street. Breakfast is simple. Cereal or toast. The staff speak English.

Room Tip: Get a room with a window.

Only for 18-25 years youngs who want to sleep after 5:30 AM, after good party from the bar/concert place from from the previous floor. Could be also terribly noisy during week days. What to say about the hotel. Only the concept is really good, and maybe some nice people at the reception.

When the noise from the bar/concert place as stopped then you can hear everything from the corridor just like people were talking in your room

Small rooms are .... really small ((((

Cannot have complete darkness in the rooms (far from it ....) for the rooms lovcated on the street side

No special place to take the breakfast so you have to take it in your room and tell the hour the previous day. Not so good if you decided at the end to sleep more than planned

Mostly no services, It's not really an hotel, mostly a place for sleeping (or a place for not sleeping ....)

And I was cold all the night, there was no private heating system and it was really cold in the room

Btw, sometimes it's good to pay a little bit more and being able to sleep ... Price is really good but if you cannot sleep, why doing so ?

I travel extensively and without doubt, this is the poorest excuse for a hotel I have come across. Staff were rude, unhelpful, rooms were not cleaned, beds unmade for the week at the hotel, towels were removed without reason, maids need to be constantly bribed to get anything done.
Internet does not work, TV works intermittantly, the blinds do not close leaving the occupants exposed to the building opposite. No extras at the hotel, not even tea, coffee making facilities.

At best the Artel is a hostel!

Room Tip: Avoid room 25 its next to the staff / store room where doors are banging from 7am to 11.30pm.

The location is excellent, just few steps to Bolshoi Teatre and subway station. The staff are pretty young and looks very "blasé", like they don't care if you drop dead in front of them. Also, the staff's english was very poor. The bedrooms are beatifully decorated but they aren't very functional at all. The bathroom floor fills with water every time you use it, you must roll over the bed to get out/in, since was like a futton over a big step on the floor (at least in our room). When we arrived the elevator (very old) was broken and nobody helped with our luggage (three floors up). Breakfast was just "ok". I was aware about the nightclub in 2nd floor but we were lucky because was monday and I think the place was not working that day, so the silence was very resonable. Nice tip: Avoid the weekends. It's intended to be alternative and young but for me was a just a "wannabe people place".

Before booking this hotel, I've read all the reviews. The most common one was - noise! So I came prepared however I don't think that any review can prepare you for what's actually going on there. The hotel is situated on the 3rd floor and there are few clubs on the 2nd and ground floor. The isolation is very poor and your bed is basically vibrating all night long. That's why I wouldn't recommend this hotel for families traveling with children, business people or people over 35. Other downsides: impossible to find it; breakfast is very poor; staff is not very helpful because of their poor English. On the other hand, this hotel has the most interesting interior I've every came across. Its location is perfect and I don't think you'll be able to find a hotel on that location for that money value. All the main sightseeing spots are just around the corner, within the walking distance. Plus if you are interested in Moscow's night life this location is perfect for you. You'll find clubs for every taste in the same building as the hotel. I would recommend this hotel, regardless to its downsides, to all the travelers who are not so picky. You get three in one: a hotel, a sightseeing and a night life on one location with your money's worth. One other tip: all the coffee bars are opening at 10 and some at 12. Vogue cafe is just around the corner (breakfast and morning coffee) and there's a new hotel Metropol with a separate coffee bar just across the street, also opening at 10.

Room Tip: Rooms from 1-6 are more quieter and room number 7 is quite large. There's a nice bar/restaurant...
