My partner and I stayed here for 3 nights having researched Trip Advisor first. Unfortunately, for the first time I feel this has let me down. At first sight the hotel is nice enough, well presented and well decorated. It has a nice, quiet garden as well so offers somewhere to escape for a bit of solitude. The breakfast is reasonably good and a variety of eggs can be cooked to order if the cold buffet is insufficient. This is where the good parts finish. Contrary to other reports, this place is most definitely not a 10 minute walk into town. We walk fast and it took us 20 to 30 minutes at best. This could be a good thing if you like being some distance from the town but if proximity to shops and restaurants is a priority for you, I suspect this place is too far out. Our other main gripes are cost and staff. For not much under 100 Euros a night in a relatively cheap country like Romania, I would expect much more than what amounts to a large B&B. I would also not expect a small bottle of mineral water from the minibar to cost £2! I realise that minibars are never cheap but if you are going to charge Hilton prices you need to offer Hilton service. Whilst the rooms are large enough, as are the bathrooms, in-room facilities are otherwise lacking. The TV had dozens of TV channels but not one was English, not even BBC World. The staff here are courteous but seem unwilling to do anything to assist beyond the basics. For example we wanted to take a tour out of town as Timisoara itself doesn't offer enough for more than a day or two. You would think that somewhere like this would stock a range of brochures for the area or at least the staff would be willing to help work out some tours for you. In fact they knew nothing and were not willing to assist and insisted we go back to our room to make an (expensive) call to the local tour company ourselves - another money-making scheme no doubt. The whole place just lacks personality and the staff lack charisma and can-do attitude that you normally get lots of in smaller establishments like this one. Finally, although the garden at the rear of the property is quite nice and there is a 'pool', this is more of a plunge pool than anything else and certainly not somewhere you could d an serious swimming.
