We've choosed the hotel after reading the other reviews. Big mistake !
The hotel is pretty much isolated ; the only transport option is to hire a Taxi .
Visiting Timisoara during winter time , normally you are expecting after choosing a 4* hotel to have the minimum for this category ; not so , because from the beginning everything starts bad .
Pretty cold in the room for an outside temperature below zero celsius degrees - only a very tine blanket - ask in the reception for more , otherwise ....... ; heating in the room only by the A/C.
No heating in the bathroom / no cosmetics also - shampoo & soap low quality - I wonder how they've received the 4* qualification ??!!!! Cheap and quite kitsch ambiance trying to copy the Ludovic Style .
By the way , I forgot to tell you that we have booked a so called " business room " .
Poor & cold breakfast and the worst bed I've ever sleep !
Want to tell you more ? My advise try to choose something else ; I'll choose next time Reghina Blue or Boavista ......

Date of stay: 28-Sept to 1-Oct-2007 and 7-Oct to 9-Oct-2007

Service: The hotel staff was very gracious and extremely helpful with all of our requests.

Room: Very clean and adequate in size. I have yet to find a Romanian hotel that has operating air conditioning. This A/C would not cool anything and the longer it operated the hotter the air was coming out of the unit. The lights and air conditioner only operate when the room key card is inserted into a wall mounted device that activates the room lights and A/C. So even if the A/C did operate it would only operate during the time occupying the room. It seems the best bet is to open the windows and use nature’s air conditioning. However, since this hotel is in a residential area, the barking dogs and crowing roosters can be disturbing to a good nights sleep.

The bathroom was very clean and adequate. The hot water was instantly available, no running water to wait until it gets hot.

Breakfast: Above average breakfast with a selection of hot eggs, meats, cheeses, cereals, breads, and many other items. A hearty breakfast is possible with the selections available.

Rates: Our first stay was for a wedding and the rates were negotiated by the bride and groom. When I asked about the rates for our second stay I was told they would be the same. Actually, our second stay was at the hotel’s standard rates (100 Euro). I should have verified the rate for our second stay but didn’t.

Location: The hotel is in a suburb and a $2.00USD taxi ride to city center. We eventually learned how to ride the bus to city center for $.50USD.

Summary: I feel this hotel is more of a business class hotel and not a good value for the tourist. There may be better value with other hotels in the city.

We were picked up from the airport by a white-bearded doorman who sang to us the whole way back to the hotel. Great!

This hotel was superb and great value too.

We stayed for a week and got to know that staff who are top people. Not all of them had superb English but that didn't matter much.

Great location, great staff, great clean rooms, great food.

We were there on business and were pretty relieved. We loved the city too. Highly recommend going there.

A group of 4 of us stayed at the the BW Ambassador for a business trip. We all had good rooms, which were large, clean and comfortable. The bathrooms were fine though they lacked a bath tub (ours had just shower cubicles but I gather the more expensive rooms have both). The only issue was the rooms were a bit hot and stuffy - the aircon cooling didn't seem to work so one had to open the window - this seems common in Timisoara where the heating systems certainly work - don't worry about being cold any where during winter. I gues the aircon would be on and cool OK in summer.

The hotel restaruant 'In Style' was very good, though not the cheapest, especially for wine. Prices were around 25GBP/50USD per head with wine. The service was good and the food nice - but beware the big portions in Timisoara and the need to order the vegetables seperately from the menu. Bar service was good and reasonablly priced.

The hotel staff spoke good English (plus German etc.) and were extremely helpful. The hotel is about 5kM from town by taxi and about a 20 minute walk. Taxis are cheap in Timisoara - expect to pay about 5RON (1GBP or 2USD) for the ride from town or 25RON/ 8 Euro from the airport. Alternatively use the hotel's transport - they have several different vehicles including a people carier and a minibus, which can be better value for a larger group, and the service is excellent.

The small gym is fine though underused and lacked many free weights.

Timisoara itself is a nice city, especially the town centre. We found people freindly and it was safe to walk about. Buildings tend to be far better on the inside than the often drab exterior suggests. Check out the Casa Filori restaraunt and others near the Opera House.

All in all a good hotel in a city well worth visiting and doing business in. Tony - UK
