“Warm welcome”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2012

My wife and I stayed for one week in October 2012 having stayed several times before. One of the best attributes of this hotel is the friendly helpful staff. Nothing is too much trouble. Good value rooms and very pleasant food. Whilst the public rooms are attractive having natural wood on the walls, this makes them a little too dark but that's about the only downside i can think of. The hotel is located at the edge of the town and now they have completed a new motorway, is a pleasant 35 minutes drive from the nearest international airport at Timisoara. It is a pleasant 1 mile walk into the centre of this attractive town of Arad, or hop on a number 3 tram which stops virtually outside the hotel, takes you in 10 minutes to the main stops on the central street of the town and on if you wish to the station and the modern shopping complex (The Atrium) on the far side of town. Buy tram tickets at local kiosk for 1.60 Lei and use one for each journey however long or short. Taxi is an alternative but we actually prefer travelling by local tram. All rooms have shower but none have bath so if you like a good soak you've come to the wrong place. Good choice of food and wine in the restaurant at reasonable prices. The standard breakfast leaves a lot to be desired though - but having said that, if you wanted something special the friendly staff will arrange it in no time providing it is not too exotic.

Room Tip: Riverside rooms quieter, rooms overlooking street having more interesting view but nosier.

I have just returned from a business trip to Arad. I stayed in Coandi and it was a great experience! The hotel is not located in the centre but if you go by car you do 4-5 minutes to centre. The rooms and bathroom are large, really clean with nice classic furniture and decor! The rooms have everything you need , there is a nice atmosphere there. There is a hairdryer in the bathroom and toilletries enough for two people. The reception staff was really nice to us , very helpful. The price is not cheap for Romania ( 55 euro with breakfast) but it's worth it. They also have a great restaurant with delicious food and they serve it until late at night ( we arrived at 10.30 pm and we had dinner at that hour). There is also wireless internet in the rooms which works ok but not excellent.
We had breakfat which was ok , you can be satisfied with everything they have.
If you come for business in Arad Coandi seemes a good choice!

I had a one day business stay at Coandis. The hotel has a good standard (for Romania). It is old fashioned - almost everything is made of dark wood. Rooms are big and clean, bathrooms too. Unfortunately an air conditioning was barely working. Set on 18 degrees I could hardly feel cooled air. Windows were in really bad shape. Due to inefficiency of A/C I tried to sleep with balcony door opened but the street noise made it impossible. Other than that everything was fine.
There is a restaurant at the hotel. It is very good - I suggest visiting. Breakfast is rather poor on the other hand.
The area isn't very nice but I guess it would be hard to find a better one.

We have stayed in Hotel Coandi, Arad on several occasions due to my wife requiring complex dental work which is at least as good in quality terms and about a quarter of the cost compared to the UK. (10 implants at Stg2,200 each in the UK versus Stg450 each in Romania). A total saving of Stg 17,500 which is more than enough to pay for flights and hotel accommodation. We have visited about 6 times in total and in all seasons. No doubt that summer is the best time to go. This hotel even has its "private riverside beach" with imported sand but plenty of sun loungers and by the riverside. For at least 2 years the bridge across the river next to the hotel has been closed due to extensive repair work. This has created extra journey times if heading east, but a walk into central Arad still takes only 10 minutes and without a constant flow of traffic including noisy trams across the bridge, it is now very quiet. We've always found the hotel staff to be exceptionally helpful. The only downside we think is that the hotel is rather gloomy inside, lighting never quite enough and plenty of dark wooden walls. Of course, these wooden walls, especially in the spacious dining room, are an attractive feature in themselves. Rooms perfectly adequate but the shower can be fairly unimpressive. Free wifi throughout. Breakfast is a pretty modest affair and never changes. Two insider tips: If you are interested in tennis then have a word with the family who own the hotel (who live on the top floor), their son is/was Romanian number 3 and plenty of photos of him with Ille Nastasie and others adorn the hallway. He also happens to be an extremely pleasant young man. Second tip, ask for a massage and you will wait a few minutes for an old man to arrive from his house in town, will be taken downstairs to the sauna area and will be given a fantastic massge for very modest cost. A pleasant walk is to walk along the river bank for about 1/2 mile then cut inwards to the town centre and make your way back via the main roads. Some nice restaurants in the town and good value. Also, if you are staying several days, this is a useful base from which to visit numerous castles in Dracula's old hunting ground of Transylvania! All-in-all bearing in mind that Romania remains a relatively poor country, Arad is an attractive large town and the Coandi, whilst not being the absolute best hotel in town in my view, is nevertheless the one where we will continue to stay as prices are very reasonable and because the hotel has character and is not a featureless building like so many modern top hotels elsewhere.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the river are quieter

The rooms are clean and modern but decorated tastefully with an old world charm. The Restaurant is the main attraction of the Coandi. Fillet Mignon with mamaligia and gorgonzola sauce was fit for an Emperor. "Mr Yan" as I call him runs a tight ship.Wait staff are meticulously attired and do not intrude on your privacy. When approached they will help you with any thing from travel advice to food recommendations.English Speakers relax as there are staff members who will make you feel at home. Bartender Mr Silvio is well versed in English,Philosophy, and Music is is sought for advice by both staff and guest alike. The hotel is located on a beautiful riverfront park near the Cultural Palace but an occasional taxi may be needed to access some business areas.Taxi's are cheap A GOOD HOTEL EXPERIENCE IS PRICELESS.

Room Tip: Ask for room with terrace for view but rooms not facing street are quieter.Second and top floor have...

I was booked into this hotel by my company at short notice and I wasn't expecting too much.
On arrival I was pleasantly surprised. The place is modern and finished to a high standard.
The room I stayed in was, i'm guessing one of their larger rooms as it was huge.
Both the room and en-suite were spotlessly clean.
Double bed was extremely comfortable, and given that the outside temperature was -11C the room was very warm.
Free very fast WiFi is available throughout the hotel. Download speed 20.20 Mb/s Upload:16.53 Mb/s via speediest.net
I didn't get chance to have breakfast as I left at 6:30am The obliging receptionist said had i made them aware they would've packed me a breakfast to go.
I would not hesitate in going back to this place again.
