Owner description: Visited February 2009. Roughly 30-45 minutes south of Bacolod City. It’s a good idea to rent out transportation for the day, leave early in the morning for Mambukal, and then come back in the afternoon/evening. We rented out a jeepney for roughly 2,000 pesos and brought some food to cook. There’s quite a bit to do here at Mambukal, all on cash basis, with relatively low fees. Per the website: Hotel Rooms, Water Falls, Swimming Pools, Function Hall, Therapeutic Warm Dipping Pool, Picnic Huts, Overnight Cottages, Food Court, Bat Watching, Boating, Wall Climbing, Slide for Life, Canopy Walk, and Camping Ground.http://www.mambukalhaven.com/location.htmlFirst we rented one of the picnic huts and started cooking. After we ate, we checked out the water fall, swimming pool, therapeutic warm dipping pool, boating lagoon and bat watching ….Picnic Huts – Nice views with a stand to grill and a sink wash your hands. The water comes directly from the falls.Water Fall – I’d say about it’s about a 30 minute hike to the first waterfall, over uneven ground and a single pipe railing to hold on to. Certainly a workout, I wouldn’t recommend this to the less-adventurous. There are a total of 6 or 7 waterfalls you can hike to, each one a less safe hike than the one before. You should at least hike to the first waterfall, it will be worth the trip. Bat Watching – You can see the bats hanging down from the tall trees in the distance from just about anywhere on the resort. They have specific ‘bat watching’ signs though, on the route to the first waterfall. Boating – You can rent a kayak for 30 minutes to an hour, good for 5 or 6 people per kayak. Life vests and two paddles are provided. Nice lagoon, lots of fun and good exercise. Swimming Pool – Cool water, large pool area. Like any other swimming pool except that this water is from the falls!Therapeutic Warm Dipping Pool – Like a hot shower on a cold day, but in ‘pool’ form. If you’re not used to the hot water just give your body time to adjust and sink lower and lower …. The resort was lots of fun, don’t forget the suntan lotion. Easily took up a whole day. A must visit if you are in Negros!

“Good day out for the family”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2012 via mobile

Lots of mixed reviews here but it's a good place for a day trip out of the city. First the good stuff... There's lots to do here. A small lagoon for boating, a big, child friendly pool and a paddling pool, zipline, huts with BBQ, bats (not as scary as it sounds), natural springs and a good place to trek and see some great natural waterfalls. All of this will keep the family entertained all day or longer. Even those who want to ignore anything strenuous and just sit, eat and drink.

However, bring everything you need and be aware that you'll need some money if you want to do everything. The place can be a little confusing and the pool isn't as well kept as it used to be.

“A Treat for the Nature Lover”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2012

Put together one of the beautifully forested areas of the Mt. Kanlaon Natural Park, invigorating treks to 7 waterfalls, sulfur springs, a naturally hot dipping pool, a boating lagoon, canopy walk with hanging bridges, zipline (ride for life), a wall for climbing, camp grounds, picnic huts beside rushing streams and swimming pools, restaurants, cottages and a lodge for overnight stays, a butterfly sanctuary, and the incomparable cool, fresh air of this 23 hectare mountain resort that is only 30-45 minutes away from the bustling city and you have Mambucal (Mambukal).

Walk in the serene and inspiring shade of towering century old trees. Meditate to the sound of rushing water and the chirping of birds and insects. See the swarms of sleeping bats that have taken the place of leaves in some trees. (The resort has 3 species of bats – the Philippine Flying Fox also known as the Philippine Giant Fruit Bat, the Philippine bare-backed fruit bat, and the Little Golden-mantled Flying Fox, which is already endangered.) Explore the many nooks and crannies, the highs and lows of the resort. Enjoy the orchids and other flowering plants, cactus, and greens being sold at ever so low prices (be careful because some might not survive the transfer to the lowlands). Mambucal is sheer delight for the senses of the nature-lover.

“Very good nature trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2012

A nice place to experience nature. There are a lot of bats flying around because there's a nearby cave. You can ride a boat in the man-made lagoon, thou you have to pay Php30.00 (US$0.70) per person. The place is very clean and the weather is quite cool compared to the city's weather. They also have a natural hot spring which is very nice. Overall, we enjoyed our stay there.

“Splendid Place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2012

It was a great experience. Unexpectedly, I was able to climb at least 1500 feet to have a glance of the supposed 7 falls but I was only until 6th. Hot spring was great for relaxing and therapy. Bat sanctuary was also wonderful. Pool was clean and tempting. The most unforgettable was the delicious grilled chicken and its sauce.

It was a total excellent experience and it's really worth it, a must visit place in Bacolod. I would love to revisit there next time if given the chance.
