“Perfectly Peaceful”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2012

In the coolness of the evening this was quite a spectacular park with well lit and well kept garden pathways. Having read other reviews, perhaps evening is the time to go to avoid harrassment from umbrella and souvenir sellers - no one bothered me.There are a couple of seafood restaurants here with reasonable rates but you'll be given "free" entertainment from harp players who then want a tip.
On the way back out from the restaurants (but still within the Shrine Complex) I stopped at a shop where locals were having a beer and watching soccer on the TV through the shop's open window. Unusual but entertaining - and beer at a very reasonable 25 pesos.

“The Shrine and the Gardens are delightful !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2012

We arrived at the shrine, and was immediatley descended upon by the umbrella boys, in case you have not come across this facility, they do charge for their service of keeping the sun off your face !

The shrine it self is not big, in size, but there is the memorial, the statue and the large picture of the battle. But as well as this there is the gardens, which are a delight. They are the best gardens we have seen, anywhere in the Phillipines. There was not a leaf out of place. Go up the block of stairs, and take a photo of the garden from above, to appreciate the colour, the layout and the water fountains.

The Lapu Lapu shrine, are open from 9.00 am until late, because on the weekend there are shows, and also dining at the various restaurants.

Be warned these restaurants are not quite like the usual ones. The idea is to buy the fish, shell fish etc from the display and then have them cooked to your liking. However unlike " the Dampa " su- to - kil ( sugba means grill, Tola means to casserole or to make soup, Kilaw means makeing fresh fish into salads and with fresh vegetables.

Rice is provided, and they are all licenced. the prices do vary, the first one near the shrine charged us 70 pesos for a San Miguel, but the last one in the corner was charging 45 pesos. We normally pay 25 - 30 in the supermarket or the little stores !

the souvenir shops seemed to be quite reasonable, but that could have been because they were having a slow day ! so be warned, they are after your dollars.

To get to the shrine you can get a Taxi and the road is straight there and straight back, but we got a Jeepney from Lapu Lapu Bus terminal and back to the city of Lapu Lapu for the price of 10 pesos each way per person. It was a good ride, and you pass by the end of the incoming runway so the planes go right over head

“Nearest tourist spot from Shang Mactan”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2012

Very near the Shang. Great place of history with lots of trinkets to buy for souvenirs. Beside an alley full of restaurants --- but a bit expensive though as they cater to tourists. About a 1$ cab ride back to the Shang.

“That's it”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2012

Nothing much to see other than Lapu-Lapu...You may skip this as there is less to see other than the statue of Lapu-Lapu. Eateries are not so aplenty too.
