“reasonable price and nice room”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2012

The room of this hotel is much better than islands stay hotels in Cebu. But the location is not in the middle of Cebu city but its in Lapu-lapu city (suburb city). Stay in this hotel is good if you are planning to do some beach's activities, because its only 15 mins car ride to the pier or the center of beach's activities.
i paid 200 php for a ride from cebu city (ayala malls) to this hotel by taxi.

I stayed in Large room, it is nice, big, and it has a small pantry, TV flat with digibox. i had a very nice sleep and enjoyed this place very much.
There is a minimarket around the place and some thai, italian, french, including filipino restos.

This hotel is really close to the airport; only 3 mins ride and the taxi's fee was 70php.

The hotel staff is friendly and amazing; they are helpful and approachable.

The restaurant in this hotel has good food too, i like the lechon and kamias shake.
i certainly will come back here!

The place is hip, trendy and modern but they're not as budget friendly as they project themselves to be. I took the small room for Php 1450 and it was the size of the bathroom in my house. Their double bed would fit two petite anorexics.

You can say that I don't get the whole 'boutique hotel' concept, but in the end the price point speaks louder. If you look online and do more searching, you can actually find standard rooms in Cebu at Php 1250 or less that are much more spacious and have complimentary breakfast.

Also, if you're going to stay in Mactan, might as well have beach-side accommodations. The area is a bit tricky, you're in between the Mactan beaches and the other side of the city (Ayala / IT Park) so there's not much things to do from a walkable distance.

Here are my other comments:

Plus side:
- Excellent service staff, super warm, helpful and friendly. You can tell they are well trained.
- Near the airport, Starbucks and the Cebu Yacht Club, supermarket and easy to commute
- Hip minimalist interiors, white walls with green and orange accents
- Place is new, so the sheets are still crisp, towels thick
- Split type air conditioning per room, nice and nippy room temp
- Modern all-white bathroom, super clean
- Welcome kit comes in a nice satchet which contains shampoo, soap, cotton buds

Down side:
- They don't have a table to place stuff
- Their rooms were still getting constructed, so there were construction workers roaming the lobby
- Their phone doesn't work and you have to go back and forth to the lobby if you need anything
- They don't have wifi in the rooms so you have to go to the lobby to surf online.
- They don't have an in-house restaurant so make sure to eat within business hours
- They don't have complimentary water
- You can hear the traffic noise if you're at the road side rooms

* If you're staying here, go to the Cebu Yacht Club and have dinner in their restaurant there. Super chill, with the view of the river and Cebu. Also, beaches in Maribago are 30 mins away.

Room Tip: Avoid the road side rooms

Possibly the best budget hotel in Cebu, this place was impressive for what it is. If you are familiar with Super 8 Motels in the states, this is Super 8 meets Target/Ikea. It's the Philippines version of Ideaesque, Target / Ipod inspired design and decor that matches the pictures EXACTLY. Yes, the place is not perfect, it's the Philippines and there are ants, yes the water in the sinks are cold only, yes there is some mold on the ceilings in the bathrooms. Given that, for the price and the two-star category, it's ahead of anything in Cebu. Location couldn't be better... literally less than 1 minute from the airport terminal and walking distance to Thai, French, and Italian Restaurants as well as plenty of others. The restaurant in the hotel is traditional Pinoy cuisine which specializes in Lechon, so much that it was covered in an Anthony Bourdain spot. The real star of this hotel if the rest is not enough is the fact that it is home to the most friendly hotel staff I have ever encountered anywhere regardless of price. This place is a keeper.

Room Tip: The WiFi doesn't work too well at the end of the building so if that is important, try and grab...

We stayed here for a night as we were flying out of Mactan Island Airport the following day - the rooms were bright, clean, spacious and cheap (with TV and wifi) and the staff were excellent, very friendly and very helpful. There was a really nice french bakery about 100 metres away where we went for a great breakfast, plus a pub and a starbucks as well as lots of little cafes run by the locals. To be honest it was a flying visit so we didnt really get to explore beyond that but apparently the beach is only a short drive away.

Room Tip: If you're looking for somewhere close to the airport on Mactan Island then highly recommend this...

Stayed at the Mactan location about 4 nights. Room was bright and clean. Staff was very helpful in many ways. Great location - near restaurants, banks, shopping. Would not hesitate to stay there again - great value.

Really nice people - very friendly.

I've been hearing the buzz about Islands Stay Hotel, Island's Group hotel chain. We had a quick stop-over in Cebu, so quick it was just about 9 hours.

We chose to stay in Islands Stay Mactan, one of the 2 Islands hotel in Cebu. We were to leave at 5 AM so we needed a place near the airport.

I made my reservation via their mobile phone and helpful Islands' lady Ms. Queenie booked our rooms and a vehicle for our early morning flight. This hotel is SO convenient for travellers. Yey! Another YEY, they offer discounts to unsuspecting guests!

Unlike other hotels, Islands Mactan has a no non-sense reception. Some may find it bare but the warm Cebuana smile of the receptionist was enough to fill the many spaces. I got the Small (solo) room by the roadside and my companions, the twin rooms. The hallways and the rooms were stark white with splashes of orange and green. It was a refreshing sight for a hotel! The rooms got the modern day basics: cable TV, WiFi (but my room didn't have that time) and of course, a bottle of water! The bathroom fixtures are pretty modern.

No big closet to put your few clothes in, just a few hangers were available. I was just kinda missing 2 things. One, a table to put my stuff on. I had nowhere to put my laptop (was using it for "work" hehe). I was also charging my mobile phone and my iPad and had nowhere to put them on, but on my bed. It was cool because I'm tiny and their bed offers a lot of space.

Two, their faucet was a bit too big for the water basin. I had to put my face to the side of the faucet as I was washing it or while I was brushing my teeth. You know what I mean? I couldn't put right in front of the faucet.

My stay in the hotel was a total of 6 hours only. Dead tired, even as the hotel is situated at the junction of M.L. Quezon Highway, Islands Stay Hotel-Mactan was all I needed for a good night's sleep. We grabbed our breakfast at the airport already, there was no cafe or restaurant there yet but I heard they will be putting up food stations there.

Look them up at www.islandsstay.com. I reached them at (032) 239 5456 or 0917 622 4690.

Room Tip: Make sure your room is not by the roadside. The hotel is centrally located in this junction where v...

Worst hotel ever...
The room was very dirty, I can't believe they don't even try to renovate the rooms!
It's too dirty to let customers stay in.
so much worse than any other guesthouses in South East Asia.

We will never go back there.

Good day,

Sunny greetings from Islands Stay Hotels!

You must be talking about another hotel since we just opened in June 2011 after months of renovation and our rooms are literally brand new. This is evident in the pictures taken by our hotel guests and posted here on TripAdvisor (please view pictures taken by TripAdvisor reviewers of our hotel).

In this regard, we're so sorry you had a terrible stay! That's we make sure to focus on design when it comes to our hotels. We invite you to try Islands Stay instead the next time in Cebu. You just might like it. :)
